Sometimes I see some of the women on these shows and don't necessarily think they're 'beauties', but there's certainly some attractive participants this year.

This year does seem better than others in recent memory, and the gowns have certainly improved.

Yes, they do look healthy. However, I look at some of these women and wonder what happened. I for one think some Japanese women look very attractive, yet their entry for this year doesn't quite measure up to my fine standards. (smirk) I always wonder when nations send up women who aren't all that attractive.

I believe it was an indirect slap meant for the Republic of Panama. China continues to be angry with Panama because Panama has diplomatic ties with Taiwan and not China. China continues to make a big noise about this every chance it gets.

I read in our local papers that Miss Canada’s costume was rented for $600. That’s OK; but here’s the kicker. It was designed and previously worn by a cross-dresser.

While we’re at it, Miss USA's costume was a big disappointment (for me). She appeared dressed as Wonderwoman. She had this big blue cape with large white stars printed on it, a wonderwoman type body suit, and red boots with very high stiletto heels. All she needed was a whip in her hand.

Miss Iceland had to leave the competition. She became dehydrated and ended up in the hospital. The “heat” got to her. I have trouble with this because we have had a cloud covering for most of the days (its rainy season here); and therefore, it has not been hot.

Well, the choice is only between those that enter their respective countries' pageants, and there are a variety. For instance, I believe Miss USA goes on to the Miss Universe, whereas Miss America goes on to the Miss World pageant. When I look at state level pageants, and who wins those, I gotta wonder what's on the judges minds sometimes.
