As we continue our efforts to safeguard this nation, I'm getting the distinct feeling that the resolve of certain of our citizenry is waning a bit. The events of September 11th, 2001 are beginning to fade from our memory, at least for some of us. It's time to look back.
We must not forget exactly why we came to the place we are at now; therefore, I'm going to bump an old thread (which has probably been bumped before) dealing with the 911 attacks. It is a remembrance archive of contemporaneous posts on FR during the period of the attacks.
Please read them carefully and refresh your memory as to why we are in the Middle East. Many of the posts, seen in hindsight, are extremely interesting. Personally, I noted many comments "removed by moderator." I'm dying to know what was contained in those posts, considering the events which were unfolding at the time. The remembrance archives can be accessed at: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/620413/posts

I haven't forgotten that day. I was posting on Free Republic on that day from watching the whole thing from my office in NYC before we had to evacuate. I just looked at the site. Voices frozen in time!! I remember and will never forget! Thank you!

Watching these, and watching the pain on the President's face, I remember why I loved the man. I am filled with a renewed spirit and confidence for him, and a renewed contempt for those who now call him "liar" and "murderer" over the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. God Bless America.

"I only found FR this year, wish I had known about it a few years ago."
Welcome to FR. I just celebrated my fifth year with the FR crowd - almost like family. LOL!

I haven't forgotten, although you are right to think some in this country of selfish people have. I will never forget my horror, shock, and anger on Sept 11!

Thanks for that link. I had lost it, and it is the absolute best of all of them.

Here is a quote from Earth In The Balance, Al Gore, 1992, then a Senator from Tennessee
"Consider that the United States spends tens of billions of dollars on frenzied programs to upgrade and improve the technology of bombers and figher planes to counter an increasingly remote threat to our national security, but we are content to see hundreds of millions of automobiles using an old technological approach not radically different from the one first used decades ago in the Model A Ford...We now know that their cumulative impact on the global environment is posing a mortal threat to the security of every nation that is more deadly than that of any military enemy we are ever again likely to confront."
537 Florida votes Freepers. Never forget Florida either.

I couldn't forget even if I wanted to. I have pictures all over my cube so all my vistors can't forget either. Nor has my anger subsided.
It really pisses me off that we still have our brave heros fighting and dying in Afganistan and Iraq and all I hear on the news is crap about Martha Steward (or whatever her name is).
This fight is a LONG way from over. STAY THE COURSE!
