RAINES & BOYD - A GOOD FIRST STEP
NY POST ^ | 6/9/03 | LETTERS COLUMN

The resignation of New York Times editors Gerald Boyd and Howell Raines ("Raines' Hard Fall," Editorial, June 6) should be just the first in a long line of resignations or dismissals at the Times. The Blair/Bragg/Dowd episodes are just a sympton of a disease that has plauged the paper since Mr. Sulzberger became the chairman and publisher. Leftist and even anti-American reporting, disguised as objective, by such people as Adam Clymer and R.W. Apple, have no place on the front pages of the pre-eminent newspaper in America. Michael B. The NY Times will not change. It just published a Judith Miller piece in which the usually cautious reporter quoted a passel of un-named sources (in this case US) denying that the vans found in Iraq could be used in the production of WMD.

For anyone searching for hard news the article was a waste of time. Miller, just as easily, could have found un-named sources who would claim that the vans WERE laboratories on wheels. The latter case, however, would not have served as a hit piece on the administration, something the Times was obviously looking for.

If the Times can't see the handwriting on the wall, and they don't change, it's to their detriment. Other than a few gullible liberal idealogues who've grown accustomed to being duped by the Times lies, many more people will refuse to be conned.

The NY Slimes has been lying to the American people, pushing the DemocRatic mantras and using the undisclosed source to bash Republicans for decades.

The NY Slimes will not change. They are arrogant and believe that they can still get by with the undisclosed source used to disguise a hit piece by a reporter or oped fiction writer.

Clinton argued against firing Times' editor Raines, sources say.

Thank for the link. Article referenced elsewhere, caught my interest.

Excerpt: "Our goal is not to seek scapegoats but to understand the weak spots in our journalistic defenses," Siegal said in a separate (NYT) staff memo last week.

That's an easy one, fellas. Take my advice. It's b/c you are liberals and have no core values. Get rid of the moral relativity story angle and concentrate on facing facts as they are......not as you wish them to be.
