Sac Bee - Letters to the editor: Happy with Prop. 13

Re "Living with Proposition 13," June 1-3: The issues are fairly simple. Proposition 13 was enacted because many people bought a home and then found themselves in a spiral of ever-increasing property taxes, levied by governmental bodies whose motivation was "growth is good." Existing property owners were forced to finance most of the "growth," and many were unable to afford to keep their own homes. After Proposition 13, politicians were forced to "pay as you go" for new ventures in nonemergency spending, a basically sound budgetary practice.

The Sacramento Bee hated Prop 13 before it became and after it became law.

Their tax and spend left wing lunatic oped writers and editors have lied and taken shots at prop 13 since we voted it in.

The fiction the Sac Bee has floated in their cesspool about Prop 13 makes the NY Slimes look some what truthful.

That's right let's let the silly folks blame Prop 13...after all in the 27 years since it passed there has been NO turn over in current home ownership...Based on pre Prop 13 tax rates my 86 year young mom would have to sell her house since she could no longer afford to live in the nice place she got when she was working hard to raise her kids. She pays $2000 a year now in propety taxes but would have to pay close to $7000 a year under non Prop 13 rates....No wonder the left has turned the Golden State into the Welfasre State of northern Mexico
