DULUIYAH, Iraq, June 12 — U.S. fighter jets bombed a suspected terrorist camp and troops stormed door-to-door through Sunni Muslim towns Thursday, seeking Saddam Hussein loyalists in one of the biggest American military assaults since the war.

Coalition forces did not give a total of Iraqi casualties in the operation, but said about 400 Iraqis have been arrested and many were being interrogated. No Americans have been killed but four U.S. soldiers suffered gunshot wounds Thursday, said Sgt. Forest Geary, of the 37th Calvary, a unit of the 3rd Infantry Division.
''It's one of the largest operations since the war,'' U.S. Central Command spokesman Lt. Ryan Fitzgerald said of the sweep.
As part of the effort, the American civilian administrator of Iraq, L. Paul Bremer, on Thursday banned gatherings, pronouncements or publications that incite disorder or violence against the U.S.-led occupation forces, or the return of the Baath Party.

General Shinseki said 100,000 men to police Iraq. Was he wrong?

You don't know much about history if you make that statement!

Are you making it, or is that what your crib sheet said to post today?

Another resident, Ammar Salim, said 31 members of his family, males aged 13 to 70, were detained. ''There was no reason for them to be arrested. They did nothing,'' he said. ''They (U.S. forces) destroyed all our furniture, all our belongings.''

Maybe if they let us know who the perps are, they wouldn't have to worry about this action again. Until that happens, all I hear is the world's smallest violin playing.

I was asking a question, not making a statement.

You don't know much about the constructs of the English language if you make that statement!

Or does your knee jerk reaction make anyone who asks a question automatically suspect or does it force you to put words in other peoples mouths?

What is YOUR agenda?

What do they mean "since war". Our young men and women are still dying over there, as far as I'm concerned it is still a war.

No, General Shinseki said 200,000 Americans for several years. And yes, he was wrong. It may take 6 mos to a year to sweep up all the sh*t Saddam left behind but within a year the Iraqis will be doing this themselves.

It's the world's smallest violin now. But if that attitude you have expressed is carried through to enough people in Iraq, the general population will turn against the American "liberators". Then where are we?
