Maybe he did have poor aim--but this is going to be a tough one to defend in court. A lot of mistakes were made here.

But this is Louisiana, right?
Where "He deserved killin'" is a valid legal defense, right?

Too bad daughter was not armed so she could have taken care of the jerk before the rape.

Alexandria police officers look at the bloodstained walkway at 3212 Tea St. on Friday morning following a shooting. A man who was later charged with rape was shot by the alleged rape victim's father, police say.

Hayes told officers he was leaving his daughter's house to contact police when he saw Collins enter the Housing Authority property. Weatherford said Hayes followed Collins' vehicle back to his daughter's house and shot him on the porch.

If this is a FED Housing then there will probably be a visit to ClubFed for Him.

You think it's going to be tough to defend in court. A jury of his peers will have to decide. I for one don't think it's that difficult. Not guilty.

Reminds me of a guy who was shot dead in an airport by a girl's father who had accused the guy of raping her. He was being flown back in for trial and a camera crew was following him as he was being led through the airport. The father got off one shot to the head. End of trial.

I think he was sentenced to prison, though. He should have been fined $100 for discharging a firearm in a building, and then given a medal.

When I was a deputy it amazed me that the bad guy says that man shot me....good guy says I shot that bad guy and we still had to investigate the event. As you state, too bad the alledged rapist didn't get a slug to the brain pan from the victim.

Stay Safe !

I remember when that happened. I lived in Louisiana at that time. If I remember correctly, the guy being brought back was a karate instructor and it was a little boy he kidnapped and sexually abused. I think the perpetrator was being brought back from California. He was being escorted through the airport by police officers and the little boy's father pretended to be talking on the phone. In the video, the police officers fell away from the perpetrator and he got shot. So much for a long drawn-out, taxpayer-funded trial! I believe the father got off on "not guilty by reason of insanity". Good verdict in my opinion! Buy daddy a bigger gun and more bullets!

Donald Ray Hayes, 52, of Alexandria turned himself in at the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office a couple of hours after the Friday morning shooting. "You turn him loose, ya hear. You turn him loose. He's hero!" (paraphrased from A Time To Kill, which appears to be in order.)
