o'Brien has been under suspicion for a year of covering up a huge child molesting scandal in the Phoenix diocese, with numerous priests accused of molesting. Most of those accused fled with Church help, including being reassigned to places like Mexico. O'Brien, on the thin edge of being indicted for all of this, just plea-bargained last week, agreeing to finger the renegade priests.< P> So when he was driving home that night he was obviously in no mental condition to drive, whether or not any 'substances' were involved.

SIX priests were indicted. One is dead -- can't hold the Bishop responsible for that. The one in Mexico was removed from the priesthood by the Bishop in 1992 and went to Mexico on his own. Three others have been suspended/removed for months or even years, again by the Bishop. And one returned to Ireland after he was released from jail in January, with the charges being dropped against him. (I have no idea why Romley is reindicting him since he was previously cleared!).

I agree with you about his condition being less than ideal, but he has been under siege lately...he is 67 after all, and it certainly doesn't help matters when people like you spread total falsehoods about him. Shame on you!

It is just a little humerous to see these posters make, of all people, Bishop Thomas O'Brien into the devil himself.

You know as well as I, that his Excellency is a weak leader and a tribute to mediocrity, but he is not an immoral monster.

A tragic accident occurred. Could have been any of us - and almost happened to me along that same strecth of road, on several different occasions no less.
