The German Forces didn't do too well in the cold of the eastern front. That was in large part because they hadn't planned to be there during the winter. That and the fact that Hitler really didn't let them in on his plan to invade the Soviet Union until quite late in the process.

For the record, I am all for closing the borders and kicking out all the illegals. But is that realistic or living in dreamland? Is there a middle ground? Not sure. I haven't seen one yet. But I've been one of the harshest critics of GWB regarding the borders and immigration- no matter how much of a Bushbot some may think I am.
The illegals problem will never, NEVER go away until the Unites States completely overhauls and eliminates the welfare state of dependency and complacency. Illegals and welfare are two problems that need each other to coexist. Get rid of one, and the other will go bye-bye.

The problem with that entire premise is that Hitler, like most socialist tyrants, whole heartedly endorsed the Lincolnian concept of the union:
"[In America] it is impossible to speak of original sovereignty in regard to the majority of the states. Many of them were not included in the federal complex until long after it had been established. The states that make up the American Union are mostly in the nature of territories, more or less, formed for technical administrative purposes, their boundaries having in many cases been fixed in the mapping office. Originally these states did not and could not possess sovereign rights of their own. Because it was the Union that created most of the so-called states." - Hitler, Mein Kampf Volume II, 1926

The southerner that contemplated trusting hitler would be a really stupid southerner, and he would be silenced by his more intelligent neighbors.Bingo!

The real question is, what would have happened if Hitler had not turned against Stalin?

I disagree with your point number three. Once the horrors of Nazism were figured out by The America First crowd, they would have not supported Hitler.
I know they were wrong, but they were mostly good Americans.

The Germans knew then what the Chinese should know today. It takes a half dozen aircraft carriers to make a difference in the world.

I, (state name in full) do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic...
So begins the oath that every US officer, enlisted serviceman and civilian employee swears upon appointment or enlistment. While Americans have divergent political views, none who have sworn this oath can deny its meaning. Many have violated it (Teddy, Bill, Hil, etc.) Tens of millions more have honored it and paid in blood to defend this nation. I first swore it 32 years ago and feel just as passionate about it today. Click my profile if you have doubts.

It's realistic. Middle grounds are often a hiding place for wimps and weaklings.

The Soviets almost collapsed at Stalingrad. It was only a second front that kept pressure on the Germans. And FDR sent several boatloads of silver bullion to Moscow to help Stalin prop up what was left of the Soviet economy. Without that aid, the whole thing might have collapsed, just like Hitler had predicted...

Hitler getting nuclear weapons first wasn't an option. The majority of the necessary talent was jewish. Europe didn't have the economic resources to seperate the isotopes, especially not when it's fighting a war like none other. This last is also true for Russia, and Japan as well.
Only the United States, with it's vast economy and geography had the resources to make the bomb possible.

Zuhkov had recently bloodied the Japanese nose ...At Khalkin Gol on the Mongolia-Manchuria border, 1939. One of the most important battles of which nobody's heard.

The U.S. war machine by then was in high gear and fighting the war in two separate oceans. Hitler was doomed. It depends on what you mean by "by then". We were not yet fully in high gear when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. If they had not done so, and the Germans had invaded Britain before turning on Stalin, things would have been considerably different. The "America First" crowd likely would have continued to oppose American entry into the war, and there would have not been nearly the pressure to increase our own production and force levels. Certainly there would have been no Manhatten project, at least not one with the crash priority it had. It would have taken quite some time for the Axes to absorb the Soviet Union, but if they had, they would have soon had a large force available to deal with the US and the rest of the world. Meanwhile, the Japanese did have large deep water Navy, and lots of shipping. They could have shared designs with the Germans, as the Germans did share certain technologies with them. Combining German, Italian, Japanese and Soviet resources could have resulted in a formidible Navy and Air Force. Certainly the Germans and Italians were perfectly capable of building a B-29 like aircraft to bomb the US.

The History Channel did a story one time on if the Germans had won WWI. They concluded the world would have been a better place.

The Soviets almost collapsed at StalingradNot even close to an accurate statement.
The Soviets might have lost the city and battle, but there were ALWAYS more russians to through into the meat grinder of the Eastern Front.
I suggest you read Stalingrad by Beevors. Its available at amazon.com for your furthring education.

I agree, the logistics would have been an absolute nightmare. the Germans would have gotten chewed to bits.

"The Germans never got past the research stage, unable to attain a chain reaction."
I think what happened was a decimal point slipped in the calculations after some nuetron cross section tests. Thus they missed the boat. Otherwise they might have tried a graphite moderator just like Chicago Pile 1.
