This crap is now making the rounds. Sounds like a clear attempt of Hollywood's to discredit a good man they can't stand.

Here's an addendum to the original article on Mel Gibson and his family

As a concernd person, boycott ALL Mel Gibson's films.

Gibson Family Under Fire for Anti-Semitism

LOS ANGELES - Mel Gibson and his parents are under fire today from a leading Jewish group for reportedly anti-semitic impulses in the former's new film and the latter's denial that Al Qaeda executed the Sept. 11 attacks.

The actor's father, Hutton Gibson, told The New York Times he flatly rejected that the terrorist group led by Usama bin Laden had any role in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon Sept. 11. "Anybody can put out a passenger list," the elder Gibson told The Times

"So what happened? They were crashed by remote control."

He and the actor's mother, Joye Gibson, also told The Times that the Holocaust was a fabrication manufactured to hide an arrangement between Adolf Hitler and "financiers" to move Jews out of Germany to the Middle East to fight Arabs.

"Go and ask an undertaker or the guy who operates the crematorium what it takes to get rid of a dead body," Hutton Gibson told The Times. "It takes one liter of petrol and 20 minutes. Now six million?" Said Joye Gibson: "That weren't even that many Jews in all of Europe."

Rabbi Marvin Hier, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, shot back.

"To bigots and antisemites, no amount of evidence of scientific proof is ever enough. In their world, only hate matters."

The comments from the Gibson family come justafter the actor built a church near Malibu that caters to a revisionist version of Catholocism.

According to The Times, the church has a congregation of 70, including the > star of such films as "Braveheart" and "Conspiracy Theory." Mel Gibson, a devout Catholic, is directing and co-wrote an upcoming movie "The Passion," rooted in a theological movement known as Catholic traditionalism that seeks to return the faith to its pre-1962 period, before the Pope issued what is known as Vatican II, a series of proclamations that did away with the notion that Jews were responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus.

"If the new film seeks to undo that," Hier told The Times, "it would not be uncovering truth. Rather, it would unleash more of the scurrilous charges...directed against the Jewish people, which took the Catholic Church 20 centuries to finally repudiate."

[Reportedly], Gibson is making a movie about the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus. He is going to show that the Jews killed him. He is filming this in Latin and Aramaic with no subtitles. He belongs to a group that believes this Roman Catholic Church is too liberal and that things should go back to the way they used to be before 1965 when the church apologized to the Jews for their behavior towards them. His father says that the "Second Vatican Council was a plot put out by the Jews."

When asked if Jews might be offended by his movie, Mel Gibson says: "It's not meant to. I think it's meant to just tell the truth. I want to be as truthful as possible. But when you look at the reasons Christ came, he was crucified- he died for all mankind and he suffered for all mankind. So that, really, anyone who transgresses has to look at their own part or look at their own culpability."

Get a grip, people!

Where to start? OK; Gibson's father sounds like an ignorant moron. But no one is responsible for their father's beliefs or behavior.

As for the New York Times story, better check and see if it was written by Jayson Blaire. The Times has been revealed to be a bunch of professional liars whose sole agenda is that of the Far Left and of world communism. Not much of a recommendation.

A new movie in Aramaic and Latin without subtitles? Talk about shooting for a small audience. Aramaic is a dead language and all the Latin speakers in the world could fit into The Flying Saucer Cafe in Roswell, NM. Why not film it in Gao' uld without subtitles? Reality check, people.

Before we start calling for a boycott, let's get the facts straight. This email seems to be as bald-faced a set of lies as I've seen recently. Gibson's reputation in Hollywood is that of a compassionate, intelligent, gentle family man with strong values. Hollywood hates his guts because he stands behind the Second Amendment (a la "The Patriot"). This is precisely the pack of lies the Liberals spread to discredit someone they can't take-on face to face. And if we're going to boycott something, let's start with the gang of thugs, murderers, and terrorists running the United Nations.

Please pass THIS on.

This does sound like a crock of sh*t. You don't keep your faith when you are raised by bigots and racists. This is just a begining smear about the movie Mel Gibson is making.

Well, the movie *is* in Latin and Aramaic without subtitles.

And Gibson *does* say that he doesn't want to offend Jews. And he *does* belong to a conservative Catholic church.

And his parents *are* flakes.

But as far as I know Gibson isn't a flake, and he doesn't hate Jews and he's not a Holocaust denier.

I am looking forward to the movie, myself. It won't be the same without a shot of Gibson's famous rear end, but given the topic I don't expect one. ;^)

Where to start? Simple. Any e-mail that frantically asks you to turn it into a chain letter is almost always wrong and full of fantasies and lies. I would discard it out of hand as spam.

reportedly anti-semitic impulses in the former's new film

"reportedly" huh? Well I guess that proves it then.

The comments from the Gibson family

What "comments from the Gibson family"? The quotes are from Gibson's father who is well known to be a little wacko.

seeks to return the faith to its pre-1962 period, before the Pope issued what is known as Vatican II, a series of proclamations that did away with the notion that Jews were responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus.

First of all, that's not exactly all that Vatican II was about, as I understand it. Second, it may not be the part of Vatican II which Gibson wants to undo. (One suspects not; he's more about the Latin mass and stuff like that from what I have heard.)

This "reasoning" is like that of Jesse Jackson types who say that strict constructionists want to bring back slavery because the Constitution was written during a time when slavery was legal. It's worse than stupid.

"If the new film seeks to undo that," Hier told The Times, "it would not be uncovering truth.

And if the new film had wings, it could fly. Does it???

He is going to show that the Jews killed him.

According to the Biblical story, Jesus was sentenced by the Sanhedrin (composed of Jews), and then there was a crowd scene in which Pontius Pilate asked a certain crowd of people (presumably composed mainly of Jews) whether they wanted to spare Jesus or another. In those senses, it is the bald truth that those Jews, according to the story, had a hand in Jesus's death. One presumes that this is what Gibson's film will portray. (i.e. he will include these scenes, and he won't change the Sanhedrin into Samoans, he won't change the members of the crowd into Eskimos, etc.)

The idea that portraying certain historical or fabled incidents in which some Jews did something is the same as Saying "the Jews" Did It is boneheadedly stupid, whether it's coming from some Nazi or an "anti-defamation" grievance rabbi.

He belongs to a group that believes this Roman Catholic Church is too liberal

Presumably, this is his real crime.

and that things should go back to the way they used to be before 1965 when the church apologized to the Jews for their behavior towards them.

Again this stupid logic is repeated. Before 1965 there was segregation in the South, I guess if Gibson wants to bring his church back to the way they used to be before 1965 (when there was segregation in the south) then he must want segregation in the south to come back as well.

His father says that the "Second Vatican Council was a plot put out by the Jews."

And Al Gore says that during his time in Congress he took the initiative in creating the Internet. Lotsa people say weird things, what the hell has this got to do with Mel Gibson or his movie?

I would not defend against the comments from the father or mother of Mel Gibson.  I did see Mel mention that his dad is older and that Gibson had asked a specific member of the press to leave his dad alone.  The next day this reported went against Mel's request to spend the whole day with his dad who is elderly and feeble.  Gibson also mentioned that he obviously didn't agree with everything his dad believed, but didn't want to take his dad to task on national television.

If the parent's views are questionable, they are still not statements of Mel's views.  This is slander by association, and it isn't justified.  Show me something Mel himself has done wrong and I'll evaluate it.

The comments from the Gibson family come justafter the actor built a church near Malibu that caters to a revisionist version of Catholocism.

Do we have religious freedom in this nation or don't we?

According to The Times, the church has a congregation of 70, including the > star of such films as "Braveheart" and "Conspiracy Theory." Mel Gibson, a devout
Catholic, is directing and co-wrote an upcoming movie "The Passion," rooted in a theological movement known as Catholic traditionalism that seeks to return the
faith to its pre-1962 period, before the Pope issued what is known as Vatican II, a series of proclamations that did away with the notion that Jews were responsible
for the crucifixion of Jesus.

"If the new film seeks to undo that," Hier told The Times, "it would not be uncovering truth. Rather, it would unleash more of the scurrilous charges...directed against
the Jewish people, which took the Catholic Church 20 centuries to finally repudiate."

Ah, then someone needs to contact God and ask for a revision of the Bible.  Otherwise this person is being rather sellective.

[Reportedly], Gibson is making a movie about the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus. He is going to show that the Jews killed him. He is filming this in Latin and
Aramaic with no subtitles. He belongs to a group that believes this Roman Catholic Church is too liberal and that things should go back to the way they used to be
before 1965 when the church apologized to the Jews for their behavior towards them. His father says that the "Second Vatican Council was a plot put out by the
Jews."

The Bible shows that Jews killed Christ, but I don't believe the Bible suggests we should hold the whole race responsible.  White people took part in the Tate Labianca killings.  Is the whole white race to blame?  The leaps of logic with regard to this Gibson/Jewish issue are flawed.

When asked if Jews might be offended by his movie, Mel Gibson says: "It's not meant to. I think it's meant to just tell the truth. I want to be as truthful as possible.
But when you look at the reasons Christ came, he was crucified- he died for all mankind and he suffered for all mankind. So that, really, anyone who transgresses
has to look at their own part or look at their own culpability."

Jewish leadership at the time of Christ refused to acknowledge who he was.  They refused to defend him and even facilited the outcome of his last 24 hours.  Even at that, it is ludacrist to claim that all Jews are resposible for what happened to Him.

FRIENDS PLEASE PASS THIS ON! PLEASE DO NOT GO TO ANY MEL GIBSON MOVIES BECAUSE HE HIS TOTALLY BIASED AGAINST THE
JEWS!

Well I think Gibson still has first ammendment rights until he commits a felony and is incarcerated. I will see his movie.  This trash just makes it more likely I will.

HIS FATHER SAID THAT ALL OF HIS TEN CHILDREN ARE WITH HIM SO THEY ALL BELIEVE THESE LIES.

What did Mel say?  I guess that's a pretty astounding question in light of the conclusions the author has come to in the absense of such a statement.

THE 'PASSION PLAYS' IN GERMANY WERE THE MOST ANTI-SEMITIC PLAYS GIVEN ANNUALLY WITH THE JEWS PORTRAYED AS UGLY AND MISERABLE.

Until Gibson or something he produces violates my sensitivities, I'll be watching his films.  Whining in a vacuum of facts is self-destructive.  Nowhere does it state that Gibson's movie is the same as German Passion Plays, although that is the implication.  And the implication is despicable if not documented.

It isn't Mel or his own man that bothers them. It is the story of Jesus Christ they want purged. They can't stand someone showing them the Cross.

Nothing new here. It started with Herod. Today it poses as 'separation of Church and State' to purge out Nativity scenes, student speeches, wearing of a cross, etc. The anti-Christ movement moves along.

Dr. Frank: What "comments from the Gibson family"? The quotes are from Gibson's father who is well known to be a little wacko.

I see many on this thread who are 'distancing' Mel from his nutty father...

That is all well and good, but has *Mel* distanced himself from his nutty father's comments? Are there quotes on the subject at all?

I would just really like to know because it seems this is an issue that is going to be discussed here at length. I am ambivalent about the movie because it is going to be unsubtitled in a foriegn language, I may not even see it... But Mel is an interesting character regardless and I would like to know what the truth is.

This garbage comes mostly from a hit piece the New York Times Magazine did a few months ago. They tried to smear Gibson with quotes from his dad (who does not live with him), who, sadly, is an old nutter who is a few fries short of a happy meal.

I've heard nothing anti-Semitic about the Jesus film. To tell the story of the Crucifixion you have to be accurate that some Jews participated in the events. So what? Jesus and his followers at the time were also Jews. There is no slur against the Jewish people. This is just more Christian bashing from the left.

Honestly, I don't know. But please note that I haven't "distanced myself" from Mel Gibson's Father either. Neither are there any quotes from me on the subject. Shall it then be presumed that I agree with Mel Gibson's Father's wacko theories until I prove otherwise? That's a little weird.

Mel Gibson and his father are in fact two (2) different people, you know.

I am ambivalent about the movie because it is going to be unsubtitled in a foriegn language, I may not even see it...

Believe me, I have my problems with the no-subtitles decision too, I think it's downright stupid to be honest. I still hold out hope that he'll change his mind. But that's a completely different issue and has nothing to do with whether I have to give any credence to stupid accusations of anti-semitism based on nothing.

Would you come out and do an interview critical of your father? Sorry, I wouldn't. It's absolutely unacceptable for anyone to request that he do so.

We all know the thoughts of the father are flawed. I don't need to see Mel sling arrows at his feeble dad to know that what he said is wrong. I admire Mel for taking a pass on that.

Do I take a pass on Mel's ideas? Not really. Mell will rise or fall on his own actions. His efforts are due out this fall. He can defend them against all comers then.
