You're probably going to get Ah-nold first - seriously. He's interested in doing just what you said.I don't consider Arnold a serious governor material. He has no administrative experience like Condi does. We need a very good administrator to clean up the government mess in Sacramento. Arnold does have a name appeal which would give him a leg up to defeat Boxer for Senate.
Why would Arnold or for that matter any respectable GOP candidate want Davis' job now? The budget red ink is over $35 Billion. Forget raising taxes, it would be political suicide. The only way left is to cut a lot of services and lay a lot of public employees off. Either way, your political career would be over. Sort of like Davis'.
I say to let Davis really turn California into a quagmire for the Democrats for another couple of years. Republicans will control the Senate, Assembly and Governor. Guaranteed!

It sets up a bad precedent. If we think there's voter fraud now, imagine the libs trying to drum up support to impeach future Rep governors or senators, and anyone trying to challenge it without them throwing up the race card (i.e.- we're not counting all of their votes, we're disenfranchising them, blah blah blah).

She and Cheney should switch jobs in 2004 so she has VP experience for a 2008 run.

Hitlery Clintoon v. Liddy Dole is a better and more real scenario. Rice may be smart but in world politics she's not a household name.

If Peggy Noonan would ever consider running, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat in '08. Over Bush, Condy, pretty much anyone. She's fantastic!

A very interesting and insightful piece was written by Ayn Rand titled "Why a Woman Should Not Want to be President" or something close to that.
To: maeng
Hmm...Do the names Golda Mier or Margaret Thatcher throw a new perspective on that thinking.

Maggie lead and stood by Pres. Reagan. Having a woman president does not mean we will become like Europe. The person is what matters.

"I would love to see Condi as President, just don't think the world would take us seriously."
When GW Bush was elected he was not taken serious by the rest of the world. He is now. Every leader is tested by other leaders, either you take back the Falklands or you bomb an asprin factory, your actions determine whether or not you are taken seriously.
"Do you think Margaret Thatcher really leads or is just a figure head?"
Prime Ministers in England typically have more power over government policy than an Americain President does. Think in terms of the President having his Presidential powers plus control of the Senate and Congress. Blairs problems concerning Iraq were mostly caused by the fact he leads a socialist party.
