Limbaugh: Hillary's Book Sales Don't Add Up

America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, whose 1993 book "See, I Told You So" holds the record for the best selling nonfiction book in publishing history, is challenging claims by Simon & Schuster that Hillary Clinton's book "Living History" is now the fastest selling nonfiction work ever.

"My book printed 2 million original copies, [which was] the first time in nonfiction it had ever been done - it has not been done since," Limbaugh told his listeners on Wednesday. "And those 2 million books sold in eight weeks."

He noted that the first printing run for Mrs. Clinton's book was half that number.

Limbaugh was reacting to the claim yesterday by Simon & Schuster CEO Jack Romanos that Mrs. Clinton's book has already broken sales records.

"This is the fastest-selling nonfiction book in the history of our industry," Romanos told the Fox News Channel's Neil Cavuto. "It remains to be seen -- we'll know certainly by the end of the year -- whether it is the best-selling nonfiction book."

Limbaugh noted that both his first book, "The Way Things Ought to Be" and his record breaking follow-up work were also published by Simon & Schuster, on the Pocket Books imprint.

"All I know is that Jack Romanos was at Simon & Schuster when my book printed 2 million original copies," he said.

Noting the speed with which "See, I Told You So" sold out it's first printing, Limbaugh added, "I don't know what's happening with Mrs. Clinton's book but I'll guarantee you, it isn't that. And Simon & Schuster knows it. . . It's well known in the publishing industry."

Limbaugh said that he isn't the only one Hillary will have to catch in order to truly break records, explaining, "There are a lot of other authors at Simon & Schuster who have done better than Hillary's doing. Howard Stern is one. And Simon & Schuster knows it."

Limbaugh said that accurate sales figures for Mrs. Clinton's book wouldn't be available for weeks. "I know. I've been there," referring to the delay in obtaining sales reports for his two bestsellers.

A spokeswoman for the Border's book chain told NewsMax.com yesterday that the its store's sales had lived up to Simon & Schuster's boast that "Living History" was the "fastest selling" book they had ever handled.

When asked, however, if sales had indeed outpaced Limbaugh's book, she replied, "I'll have to get back to you on that."

Rush is exactly right. Those books have gone out to bookstore across this nation. That doesn't mean they have been purshased. Even the ones in our supermarket are starting to look earily fresh after sitting there for a week. You know the thing must be cursed when it's not wrinkled by the check stand line. Nobody gives a fig about this book.

If gum starts showing up on the book, I'll let you all know. It'll probably be the first time it's been touched since sitting there.

Rush is whining that Hillary's book figures are lies---but Limbaugh doesn't offer any facts to back up what he's saying. His whine is pure speculation at this point. Until S&S releases "real numbers", anything else is just speculation.

The Unions and certain other groups will buy the books in bulk in order to inflate sales stats. Those books will end up in warehouses or landfills. Maybe some of our Troops in the field could use it for toilet paper.

I think it was Ann Coulter who wrote that, "Liberals do not read books." The left will do everything that they can in order to make her look appealing. Hillary will without question point to her book sales during her future campaign for the White House.

Hillary's book is garbage, and she is a liar of the highest order.

Do you know when the New York Times updates its bestseller list? This is dated 6/22/03 and Hillary's book is not listed.

I bet if you check his stats on how his book sold, it would pan out. We already have it from the horse's mouth that they only printed (and some doubt this number) half as many of Hitlery's book. It's also been very obvious that a lot of left-wingers "in the business" have been doing their best to hype and over-hype her book, while visits to Amazon and Barnes and Nobles sites verify that she had a spurt and is now on the decline.

So, where exactly do you get the "pure speculation" bit?
