The Norwegian Defence Command has decided to send six staff officers to join the Polish-led military stabilizing force in Iraq, according to Nettavisen.
The Norwegian officers are first leaving for Poland towards the end of July, to become acquainted with the Polish military system, before going on to Iraq in August.
In addition, an engineering company numbering 150 men will be stationed in the British sector, near the harbour city of Basra.
The first shipment of equipment for the engineers left by ship on Friday. Altogether, 70 vehicles, as well as supplies of ammunition, oil, gasoline and clothing will be shipped to Basra.
The engineers' main tasks will be the clearing of mines and explosives, Nettavisen writes.
Squad leader Stanley to Sven: "Did you bring the guns with you"?
Sven: "what guns"?
Stanley: "this is a war zone, we are supposed to have guns".
Sven: "I know, I thought you brought the guns, I brought a blonde".
Stanley: "I brought the keilbasa, how can a blonde help us fight"?
Sven, slumping shoulders and rolling eyes to heaven wanders off with the blonde, while Stanley begins doing 10,000 pushups in the sand, and Iraq begins its stabilization process. :o)
Wow, six staff officers. That should put the fear of Allah in those Iraqi resistance groups.
