"I am being told that the regime is preparing to begin publicly executing, typically by hanging, early next week."

A little advice: If Iranians want REAL freedom, they must be willing to risk everything...giving up their lives.

If it is at the stage where the students think it is non-violent protest time, and the mullahs think it is execution time...the students should start fighting with stones, sticks, gasoline, vehicles, anything and everything.

To the last man. It takes resolve and commitment.

With due respect, I don't think the peoples of the region have what it takes. The dominant religion, the cultures and peoples seem to basically take whatever is available.

Sadly, we have Tienemen Square as an example of how a determined dictatorial government can squelch a movement. OTOH, public executions might be enough to motivate the people who silently agree with the students.

Worth watching as it develops. Wouldn't it be both ironic and intersting if Iran ended up being the first Middle East democracy, instead of Iraq? And that students, who were responsible for the taking of the American Embassy, would put democracy in place?
