MSNBC fires Savage after anti-gay remarks

NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

I don’t know about that. If a known homosexual came up to me and said I want to sodomize your son I’d have something-similar come out of my mouth. Put some thought to it I’d bet there are a lot of verbal exchanges that could enflame the average conservative to say something similar.

Sean just said that he can't imagine, under any circumstance, where those comments can be defended by anyone.

Which commests? The AIDS remark? The sodomite comment? The choking on a "sausage"?

Eddie Murphy and Andrew Dice Clay made AIDS jokes and got work. AIDS jokes are also found in movies made in Hong Kong.

Is AIDS a politically protected disease? Is it worse than leprosy? Is it worse than brain cancer?

Does anyone believe that Mike Savage honestly wished AIDS on the caller (and all homosexuals)? Then why the added insult of choking on a sausage? Wouldn't that deprive him of dying a slow and painful death?

It was a venomous commment to be sure. I'd like to know specifically what comment(s) Sean Hannity is outraged about.

He wasn't outraged, he was put on the spot by a caller and pretty much had to take a stand. Although he was being sympathetic to MS, cause he's a friend, he said, on the face of it, without knowing all of the facts, it appears indefensible.

The very idea that someone thinks there should be something such as "Gay Rights" obviously doesn't understand the Constitution or the Rights given to them under God.

We all have rights to live as we please and to do as we please. To Worship God or not to Worship God.

The issue will be decided at the end of time at the Judgement. What we do here to give or take "rights" is of little consequence.

That being said, any fag who laid a hand on a child of mine would end up a worm feast and I would end up in jail.

Aired at 5 p.m. EDT Saturday, Savage didn't translate into a television hit. He increased the ratings for the time slot marginally, according to MSNBC.

"Marginally"? What, from 10 people to 20? Does anyone here even watch TV at this day and time? I am never at home then, and have seen Savage once, although I wanted to see him more. They put him on at this silly time on purpose.

The only show I watch is Scarborough. I used to watch Olberman to avoid the gasbag O'Reilly, but his show has become tedious, so now we watch Spongebob Squarepants, which is frankly the best show on television anyway.

Savage is best on the radio.

I don't know about that. I got stuck listening to him for the first time on a solo trip to Tahoe. The L.A. to Tahoe radio selection is not vast and there was no place to go but Spanish music stations when Savage went on a rant about "elevator farting". Since affiliate stations run him at different times, the same fart show ran all day on different stations as I passed thru various towns. I made emergency stops to buy CDs.

That was my first and last Savage Nation experience.

First off...as I frequent listener to Savage's show, he is not anti-gay. He has said repeatedly that homosexuality is not that big of an issue for him.

Are you a Savage fan simply because he ocassionally goes off on rants against homosexuals? Are you serious when you said that posters on this thread who are sort of defending MSNBCs decision are all homosexuals? If so, maybe you should take me off your ping list.
