NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

"elevator farting".

Yeah, well, you caught him at one of his manic moments. I like "fart stories" myself, but they don't control my day. Savage, like I posted earlier, is one who is necesarry to counter act the left. He is at times caustic, but it's time to answer fire with fire, no?

He does it.

I noticed Imus has started playing nice with MSNBC. He denied being pressured to do so, but his sudden praise is 180 degrees from what he was saying a few months ago.

It's really amazing how Imus praises everything about MSNBC now. He constantly plugs their lineup too.

No, because I don't have to "Defend" or "Not Defend" anything.

Don't you get it?!. No one has to defend their words in a free country, and when they do, it ought to be a wake-up call to you and your wimpy, so-called-conservative, brethren.

I am a conservative. I don't feel I have to defend what I or anyone else says. Savage had a perfect right to say what he wanted to say, no matter what you, or I, or anyone else thought of it.

Right on the money!

Nice guys finish last, and if we're not ready and willing to defend the good in America, and fight for it, then be prepared to lose it.

All of it!

Maybe you should watch the show before bashing Savage. A radical gay called harassing Savage during his show and Savage called him on it. The radical gays (same ones who say they want to sodomize your sons) were behind it.

The Nazis did the same thing but you think it is OK because you don't like Savage. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Imus's contract with MSNBC runs out in 2004. He's just playing suckup so as not to risk any problems come renewal time.

Not that he has anything to worry about. His ratings are good - often not too far off from what MSNBC's getting in PRIME TIME - and his demographics are of sterling quality, far above those of Fox or CNN. And being MSNBC, they've never been able to come up with any programming that does any better. Unless Imus's ego gets in the way and he demands a 100% salary increase or something, his renewal is certain.

Now, just out of curiousity...

What happened to free speech?

We had a court rule that this person's freedom of speech was protected. Yet she used the threatening words of "I hope you get cancer and die"

So it is ok to die from cancer; but not aids?

Court: Angry Phone Message Protected Speech

Jul 3, 2003 8:10 am US/Eastern
(1010 WINS) (Ossining, New York) -- New York State's highest court says an angry message left on the answer machine at the Ossining Village Parking Violations Bureau is protected by free speech rights.

(snip)
Linda Mangano had been charged with aggravated harrassment for leaving a message ``I wish you all death. You should all die. You should all die of cancer and your children also.'' She was convicted in November, 2000 of aggravated harrassment. But the state's highest court ruled that although the message was crude and offensive it was made in the context of complaining about government actions.

PUH-LEEZE. Read my posting history. A person who seems to be as "sen-seeeee-tive" as you, has a higher probabilty of slumming at DU.

Find a better argument.

I've never heard such whiney, hand-wringing nonsense than this "I hate Savage" crap.

I'm beginning to wonder if this whole society hasn't been politically corrected to the point that everyone is a gelded whiner.

I'd like to think more than a handful of conservatives had balls, but reading this thread I'm left to wonder if it isn't a neutered ideology.

I have been on these boards for over a year now and there are a lot of names in this thread that I don't recognize. I hope there are a bunch of Liberal trolls who have come to this page today just to slam Savage.

I'd like you to name one.

I recognize all of the thoughtful and reasoned voices here. I also recognize the Savage fans, but there are no liberal trolls here to knock Savage that I see.
