Sixteen Made Ill From Bacteria From Chicago Meat

Some recalled steak has made a journey from a Chicago slaughterhouse to home freezers. So far, 16 people in 12 states have been infected with E-coli bacteria from beef produced by Chicago-based Stampede Meat Incorporated. Health officials say the bacteria can cause diarrhea and abdominal cramps. They add if you have any doubts that the beef in your freezer could be the stuff Stampede has recalled, either take it back to where you purchased it or find a nearby trash can. The beef in question was distributed between March 17 and the 22.
