Portland Trail Blazers guard Damon Stoudamire was arrested on marijuana charges in Tucson, Ariz., after allegedly trying to pass through an airport metal detector with almost 1-1/2 ounces of the drug wrapped in aluminum foil. The team immediately suspended him and fined him $250,000.
Stoudamire was stopped at the Tucson airport as he prepared to board a flight Thursday to New Orleans, police said Monday. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Police said he was carrying almost 40 grams of marijuana.
After Stoudamire set off the metal detector, he put the drug and rolling papers into a plastic security bin, police said. Security officials then summoned police. Stoudamire reportedly told the arresting officers that the drug was marijuana and that it was his.

Reason No. 15 of "why I no longer watch the NBA" - Bryant sex-assault charges, Orlando guard arrested for slapping a cop, etc., etc.
Millionare gangsters and punks, and a boring brand of basketball to boot.

How dumb to bring his "smoke" along.
If a tweezer is not going to pass security what makes him think his pot would.
Not to bright. This was the third time in a year or so for him too.
I agree with the rep. for the Blazers that this guy was part of a team that presented itself with a certain image.
He know that signing up he should have kept his smoking in the privacy of his home or homies.
I think he maybe smoking a little to heavy pulling these stunts.

Here is a big difference between "now"(post-911) and then(the 80's).
My ex wife worked airport security for Wackenhut at CAE in the 80's. They had standing instructions not to worry about anything but weapons, unless it was really "large" quantities.
She said they let drugs through the x-ray machine all the time. A certain very successful female singer with a stash box of syringes and little bags? Thank-you, Ms. XXXXX, and have a nice flight. Weed all the time. Little coke vials and spoons. Every day. And every one of these passengers knew this to be the case, as they felt comfortable sending their drugs and paraphenalia through the x-ray machine.
That wasn't HER, that wasn't even the company. That was the government's attitude at the time.
