If you give a toddler a pencil, he will pick that pencil up with his dominant hand regardless of what you demonstrate to him, and he will do so every time.
But if the world were to go according to your plan, a left handed toddler should be forced to use his right hand because society deems being left handed abnormal. It may not be natural for him, and he may not like it, and it may not be comfortable, but eventually he'll learn to at least act like a right-handed person and then all of society will be happy that he's normal.

No, I interepreted it exactly as I saw it. I believe I interpreted it correctly in the context. To whit, when discussing whether there should be a hard and fast age of consent, you stated that it was nonsense to make something a crime if an 18-year-one-month old had sex with a 17-year-twelve-month old. If you did not mean to suggest an age of consent is a bad idea, please elaborate.

I'd suggest that almost everyone on the homosexual threads, either side of the debate, responds more to those than to others because they believe the issue important enough to attempt to pursuade, and they know there are FReepers and lurkers who disagree with them. Thus, a post is likely to cause a spirited debate, which is the kind of thing a person attracted to a forum would be expected to like.
I could try to post a lot on the evils of high taxes, but that would get about as much reaction on FR as offering ice-cream to Eskimos so what would be the point?
We talk about what we care about, but also when we know a discussion will ensue. There's nothing less gratifying than to put a post on a thread and hear nothing in return.

Dude - it has been scientifically demonstrated that handedness is a trait, using an experiment like the one I defined. I recognized a long time ago that handedness was not like skin color, as did scientists, but they did find a way to determine whether a person was right or left handed.
It has never been scientifically demonstrated that sexual perversion is a trait. It has only been scientificaly demonstrated that it is learned behavior. The large number of ex-gays will show you that, as well as explain the particular kind of mental illness it is.
You can keep arguing that social acceptance of homosexuality makes it normal, but your arguments are weak. You had to back-peddle away from your linkage to skin color and move to handedness in one post. What will you turn to now, favorite kind of music?
