MERIDIAN, Miss. - A gunman opened fire at a Lockheed Martin plant Tuesday, killing five people before killing himself, authorities said. Eight other people were taken to hospitals. Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie confirmed the deaths and injuries in an interview with CNN. "He went through the entire plant, shooting individuals through the facility. There was no one small area," Sollie said. Sollie didn't release the name of the gunman but said he was a Lockheed Martin employee. He had no information on whether the man had been in trouble with his bosses.

"Yeah, he was a white guy, a Christian loner who didn't like minorities." The press will LOVE it!! The media will have a wonderful time, being able to torture the familes of the kids in Jersey or the friends and families of the victims, here. "And, how does make you feel?"

This will pop the extension of the Assault Rifle Ban even higher on the public agenda. There goes the administrations strategy on this issue. The thing may very well end up on the president's desk and whether he signs it, or not, it will cost him.

In a Lockheed plant? I sort of doubt they allow that. Most businesses seem to prefer being unarmed victim zones rather than having anyone but company security, or more likely these days, rent-a-cops, having guns, or in some places even so much as a pocketknife. Where I work even the rent-a-cops are unarmed, the gates are wide open and unguarded all day, at night the guard on the gate is still unarmed, I think, he/she could have something inside the guardhouse I guess.

usually the officers in charge of security at these defense contractors are armed and itching to placate an intruder...

i smell liberal rats sacrificing themselves for the ban extension....

unfortunately, the evolution of governments tend to lead to bloody revolution....
