SAN FRANCISCO, July 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) lauded MSNBC's decision to remove Michael Savage's show from the air, following Savage's anti-gay remarks last weekend.

At a taping of his show, Savage reportedly told a gay caller: "You should only get AIDS and die, you pig." According to news reports, these comments prompted MSNBC to fire Savage.

Jonathan Bernstein, ADL Regional Director, said, "We commend MSNBC for taking this matter seriously. By removing hateful rhetoric from the airwaves, they are helping to promote tolerance and safety for all people."

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism and all forms of hate through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

Looks like he was speaking in a kind of New York City subjunctive mood. You'd think MSNBC and ADL's lawyers would know what that means.

I've never heard this guy ~ is he supposed to be some kind of cult favorite, or what?

Never listened to him myself honestly. I like Glen Beck, and I actually have spent a lot of time listening to Fred Anderle on npr locally here (been years since I called into his show and argued with him though, he is a pretty decent fellow for a liberal).

Tried to tune into the Savage radio show on KRLA here in Los Angeles but he was not on the air. There was an anouncement from management that they are waiting for an apology from Savage before putting him back on the air. I don't know if it was because of the MSNBC incident or what. Parley

He issued an apology, sort of, last night.

Except he lied in his apology, saying he "thought his remarks were made off the air," when it was clear, if you see the replay, he knew he was on the air.

Besides, what does "being off the air" have to do with what he said?

That it's OK to wish AIDS on someone, as long as nobody hears it?

He was pulled here in Mn. by are little conservative Station, saying they are waiting too see if he says something else bad. We always eat our own. We never stand up for anyone. The Patriot I thought would but they caved too. The left says they are sorry it is OK. We say we are sorry it is not enough. Lott, Dr. Laura, on and on.

Here's the full transcript. Meanwhile the liberal talk radio host in Florida who announced that Katherine Harris died in a plane crash (erroneously) has refused to release his transcript of the show.

CALLER: "Hey Michael Savage, a pleasure to speak with you today. I was flying out of LaGuardia, and there was two undercover security guards. Somebody was smoking in the bathroom"

SAVAGE: "Someone was smoking in the bathroom."

CALLER: "Unbelievable."

SAVAGE: "What happened?"

CALLER: "Half-hour into the flight, I need to suggest that Don and Mike take your [silence] cause your teeth are [unintelligible]

SAVAGE: "Alright, so you're one of those sodomists? Are you a sodomite? "

CALLER: "Yes, I am."

SAVAGE: "Oh, you're one of the sodomites! You should only get AIDS and die, you pig! How's that? [off-screen crew can be heard shouting "Whoa!"] Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig? You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage? You got nothing to do today? Go eat a sausage and choke on it. Get trichinosis. OK, do we have another nice caller here who's busy because he didn't have a nice night in the bathhouse and is angry at me today? Huh? Get me another one, put another sodomite on! No more calls? I don't care. Let's go to the next scene. I don't care about these bums, they mean nothing to me. They're all sausages."

I don't know about that, but I've read enough about some bone-dancers with Mr. Sphincter who spread that disease on purpose. It's been on FR if you care to search. Yeah, maybe it is alright, since they want me to swallow their crap hook, line and stinker.

Savage aired live today on KFMB in San Diego. For how long, is another question. We have a huge and growing homosexual population and they're rather activist also.

He's an imbecile, and he's boring.

But he should not have been taken off the air.

If people don't like what he has to say, they don't have to listen.

Interesting, though, how some people think that what is on the media can influence others.

I suspect many of those same people would deny that media can influence anyone to think something--until the something broadcast doesn't fit their agenda.

Since AIDS arrived on the scene, the gay crowd is much smaller than it used to be. Some cities to which they may be moving in some sort of consolidation action might seem to have a growing homosexual community.

Actually, the trichinosis comment does have something to do with sausages. I think this guy is saying he does not highly esteem people who eat pork or pork products. That is, he is not a Spam fan.

Is this Savage guy secretly a Moslem or something?

I heard a replay of the whole thing, and I think Savage was just doing his "schtick". Over the top for sure, but thats Savage, no one should take his tirades seriously. I think the whole thing is overblown.

Having said that, I dont really prefer Savage or his manner, I just dont think its constructive to the conservative cause in general.

I heard his show tonight. KRLA will have better odds of the Clintons telling where all the bodies are buried, Bubba admitting coke use and Hitlery admitting she has lebian Nazi torture fantasies with her girlfriends before Savage will apologize. I concur with Savage. I don't always like his show, but the gay brown shirts have been gunning for him for years. Too bad. I'm sure that when they come gunning for FR, there will be just as much conjecture about what biggots and facists we are too (as they already say on DUh).

You are so right. This country is in a street brawl for its very life and many conservatives are worried about getting a bloody nose. Savage fights fire with fire and about the only other guy who is willing to kick the left in the groin is Ted Nugent.

The left says they are sorry it is OK.

Don't get too worked up; they wish it on themselves, it's called "barebacking." Gaining popularity among the homosex crowd, according to the CDC stats showing an unfortunate increase in new AIDS cases among that particular demographic.

Mike Savage is very entertaining and in my opinion right about most things. It is unfortunate that he lost his cool and wished AIDS and death on the homosexual who was baiting him. Nevertheless I'll still listen to his program via radio. The guy pulls no punches so to speak.

Also what about that Alex Baldwin creep's cruel and stupid remarks directed against Henry Hyde and his family? What about the pathetic Nina Tottenberg's remarks about Justice Clarence Thomas? What about the idiot Bryant Gumbel's remarks about the boyscout leader? etc. etc. I think that since Savage was fired that the RATS who were mentioned above and others of their ilk should also be fired and/or boycotted for expressing their wishes of death to decent American citizens.

About Alex Jones. I like him too and listen to his programs via the internet. If you haven't already, you might also want to check out Steve Quayle's site.

"Does anyone remember Spike Lee saying something about Charlton Heston after Columbine?"

Yes. Spike Lee publicly stated that Charleton Heston, spokesman for the NRA, should be blown away with a "Bulldog .44."

Not a peep out of the media.

Then there was talk show host Craig Kilborne, who displayed a picture of President Bush in cross-hairs, captioned "Snipers Wanted."

Not a peep out of the media about that, either.

Kilborne wasn't fired and Spike Lee suffered no loss of access to the media, either.

I don't like Michael Savage and I have said so (and been summarily flamed) many times on FR, AND I don't approve of what he said.

If I were Jewish, I would want no part of the ADL anymore than I would want to be associated with Jessie Jackson if I were Black.

He's a mouth foamer.

It's a shame too. IMO, if he would just take a lesson from Rush and try to educate instead of putting the focus on saying outlandish things to get noticed, he would do allot better.

As it is, if someone doesn't agree with him, he screams things like this "aids" comment in their face, SLAMS down the phone and then spends the next 30 minutes ranting about what an idiot they are.

It's 100% emotional and it does not sound like a recipe for continued success to me.

Does one get trichinosis from eating a penis? He told the caller to get trichinosis.

It is a parasite found in undercooked meat (like pork).

Get your mind out of the gutter.

Just because the "journalists" neglected to mention it does not change what he actually said.

Having the ADL chase "hatred" around is like having Castro crack down on corruption or Democrats opposing voter fraud.

The media (outside of one Florida syndicate) has kept quiet about the liberal talk show host who announced NEWS that Katherine Harris died in a plane crash today.

Katherine Harris alive despite Miami radio host's announcement (hate radio)

Here was an earlier thread (when Drudge just had the brief)KATHERINE HARRIS Death Hoax

"Katherine Harris is dead!" reported Rogers on the air, "I've got the news story right here, it's on the Internet. A plane crash! Yes!!"

Looks like he will be getting a pass. The media double standard continues.

What about also current example?

Cubs manager Baker 'meant what he said' (about white players not taking the heat well)

And this golden oldie from the man who would be President, Albert Gore Junior:

"(North) is banking on the fact that he can raise enough money from the extreme right wing—the extra-chromosome right wing—to come in and buy enough advertising to just overwhelm the truth with blatant falsehoods [about Chuck Robb]"

"The phrase ‘extra chromosome’ is insensitive and inappropriate and I regret using it," Gore said in a statement issued from Air Force Two, en route from Washington to Chicago. "I did not intend it in the way some heard it, but that is no excuse, and I apologize."
