That's Will Pitt? Gosh he looks like Scott Ritter...hmm...

Mr. Pitt is a political analyst for the Institute for Public Accuracy

I did not know this. They arranged and funded trips to Iraq for Scott Ritter AND, if I'm not mistaken, Sean Penn.

Dang .. if veterans are allowing this creep and Scott Ritter around 'em, what are they thinking???

Veterans for Peace are, um, special veterans. The kind that march and speak at ANSWER rallies.

Looking at that picture, I am wondering if Pitt's original surname was Ritter.

I checked Blogdex for their tracking of the CHB story. Granted it is only a partial list of the blogs that have picked it up, but worth tracking nonetheless. I did follow the Buzzflash and discovered that if you don't already know the story, the hook up back to CHB leaves you totally in the dark about how wrong it was - just reading the newly sanitized version you miss the fraud.

The circle is complete, without relying on the profile of the person who showed up on CHB.

Yeah, I saw some stuff last night at the truthout site that convinced me. WRP ain't just a lefty, he's a humorless lefty idiot (humorlessness being the worst offense). What bucket of bile, yikes.

WRP ain't just a lefty, he's a humorless lefty idiot who, by birth or design, looks exactly like Scott Ritter.

I am so totally creeped out now.

Let's just post that here, and keep it from going down the memory hole...

Editor's Note | Yesterday, truthout's lead story carried an article by Capitol Hill Blue that quoted a 'CIA insider.' This insider, a Terrance J. Wilkinson, was reportedly present at two briefings when Bush was informed of, and then dismissed, evidence that his Iraq WMD claims were false. Capitol Hill Blue has run a retraction of that story, which we have printed below. According to Doug Thompson, author of the original story, Terrance J. Wilkinson does not exist, and Thompson has been getting scammed for over 20 years. Something about this story is decidedly strange, but in light of Thompson's retraction, we would be remiss not to run it. I am running down my contacts at CIA and Capitol Hill Blue to find out how all of this took place. We will let you know when we know. - wrp

Thanks for the info! I am creeped out as well! This whole deal smells! The more I read the apology from Thompson, the more it doesn't pass the smell test either!

Used to think the press was lazy, but they are just plain dishonest with all their anonymous sources and misleading headlines and stories.

William Pitt also registered here but was banned at some point. I think he also posts at SmirkingChimp.com (if that site still exists).

And if I was Thompson, I would be suing the hell out of Truthout, and trying really hard to find out if this Terrance J. Wilkinson pretender has any connections to Truthout.

Bingo.

My opinion of Thompson had gone up with the admission yesterday. Now more question marks are showing up...

Curiouser and curoiser this thing becomes...

I feel the need to point out that truthout.org routinely (as in almost every single day) republishes Washington Post and Los Angeles Times articles IN THEIR ENTIRETY, yet neither newspaper seems even slightly interested in initiating legal action against truthout.org.

Gee, I wonder why.

Also, truthout.org routinely hits up its readers for both general donations and contributions to its "legal defense fund" (I can't tell exactly what it is they're trying to fight, since they're so vague about the "fund's" purpose, but it sounds like they've had their domain blocked by some ISPs for spamming). Here are two example emails.

First, the "legal defense fund" email:

Monday 23 May 2003 [Ed. Note: The moron got the date wrong. It was sent on June 23.]

TO Fund-Raiser / Legal Defense

This fund-raiser is about our normal budget and additionally putting together a TO legal defense fund. As many of you may know we are battling with a number of large Internet Service Providers who are refusing to deliver the TO daily edition to the subscribers. We have retained a first amendment attorney and we need a legal fund. For those of you who can consider helping out please do so.

We have no banner ads, we have no pop-up windows, we have no commercial sponsors. TO is supported 100% by our readers. That's annoying -- but it's good, because that's who we answer to. For better or for worse our survival is dependent upon the public we serve. This fund-raiser will provide a war chest for the next 30 days -- let's get it off to a good start!

Please consider our monthly support plans. One low payment per month is easier on your pocket and provides us a budget we can plan around.

Just use this link to our Secure Server: https://www.truthout.org/[likei'mgivingthemalink].htm

(t r u t h o u t is a non-profit independent news source. Your contributions are completely Tax Deductible.)

FOR LOW INCOME READERS: Don't send cash just help by spreading the word!

REMINDER: The TO service is FREE to all. Donations are strictly voluntary. If you stop receiving the TO Newsletter please notify us at once.

Or if you prefer to donate by check :
Make payable to : truthout
P.O. Box xxxxx
Sherman Oaks, CA xxxxx-xxxx

To donate by Phone : (213) xxx-xxxx

Thank you!

Now, a regular fundraising letter:
Tuesday 27 May 2003

May-June Help Fund TO!

It's time to begin putting together our budget for the upcoming month. TO's presence in the media arena has become a constant thorn in the side of the FOX-CNN-MSNBC public relations machine. [Ed. Note: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!] We are going to stay in the fight. We could use your help.
