[history]
A recall election campaign could be easier to win than either of Gov. Gray Davis' last two runs for governor, two of his top political advisers believe.
"There are a ton of reasons why he can win, although we're not taking this for granted," argued David Doak, a nationally known Democratic media expert. "I've worked on two races with Gray Davis, and this looks like the easiest."

Davis could get a boost from a crowded field of gubernatorial wannabes.I think a crowded field would be the worst thing for Davis. With more names on the ballots, it more likely a voter will find someone he or she prefers to Davis and thus will vote for the recall.

You would kinda like for one of them to say, "Damn it, we are screwed. Unless Joe Davis pulls a monkey out of his ass between now and November, I am going to have to move back in with mom, and collect unemployment. I can't believe what an idiot my boss is actually. He took a $10 billion surplus and did this to the state, so now I have to go move into the basement with mom's old excercise bike? This bites. I am sending out resumes already."

I hate to say it but the author may be right. No body knows how to smear an opponent better than Davis. One of the papers yesterday had a column saying Davis was a master at smearing opponents and this is how he got elected each time he ran. However the recall election is going to be all about Davis and the kind of governor he has been and he may not get away with a dirty campaign this time. In other words the election is going to focus on Davis and the kind of person he is.

These people really think Californians will forgive Gray Davis and give him another chance. Yeah right. And pigs can fly.

And on his record. One of the mysteries about last year's election is why Bill Simon never made Davis' economic record THE issue in the fall campaign. I mean its like he got sidetracked and never mentioned his strongest issue which was also a proven winner. Simon flopped all over the place in the fall and never made to Californians the case for why they should get rid of Davis. Hopefully, the next GOP candidate won't make that same mistake.

"There are a ton of reasons why he can win, although we're not taking this for granted," argued David Doak, a nationally known Democratic media expert. "I've worked on two races with Gray Davis, and this looks like the easiest."
Wednesday's comments by California Republican Party Chairman Duf Sundheim that his party will give its all-out support to the recall actually is good news for Davis, said Paul Maslin, the governor's pollster.
"We don't run against everyone on the ballot," he said. "We run against the whole process; we run against the Republicans and their agenda."
Doak and Maslin could be accused of whistling past the graveyard. On Monday,
Norm these two rats sound like clones of Baghdad Bob as they slither past the Davis Graveyard whistling this BS!

Paul Maslin, the Governor's pollster (Is that like a court jester position?)
"We don't run against everyone on the ballot," he said. "We run against the whole process; we run against the Republicans and their agenda."
Considering the fact, it is truly a grass-roots movement driving the recall and has broad support across the political spectrum.. sounds like this guy needs more meds.

He sounds like the Bathist Thugs of $oddomite before we dropped the first bombs on $oddomite's bunker, and then like Baghdad Bob during the war.
Their focus groups have shown that their boss is hate and will lose his job in the recall. They didn't think that there would be enough valid signatures. That was their first mistake.
Their next mistake will be to try legal games to delay the vote. Every political hack, who tries to delay the vote has committed political suicide.
