In seem like the national Republicans and party wrote off California a while back.

And now just wants us yahoo out here to sit back and not rock the “national” boat (that why it seems we get sold out on immigration and other issues lately)

It’s also seem to me why we have such a terrible state Republican party ....the national Republican party has put a lot of folks in power in California to do just that ....“don’t rock the boat”

This article repeats a lie that Professor Susan Estrich of California croaked on Fox News a few days ago. If Davis resigns, it does NOT mean the recall is derailed. California law clearly provides that if the target of a recall resigns "after the recall petition has been filed," that person is replaced only "until the election is held." And this recall petition has not only been filed, it has been completed.

Since Davis intends to donate his ego to Harvard Medical School, he will never resign. However, if he did, Lt.-Gov. Bustamante will take over only until the recall election is held. In that instance, the only question decided in that election will be who replaces Davis for the balance of his current term.

The writer of this story is either incompetent or dishonest, not to know that California law provides for this possibility in plain English. Incompetent or dishonest -- sort of defines more than half of the American press, doesn't it?

You appear to be forgetting that the hallmark of the American left is that they cannot win in even a reasonably fair democratic process. This is, of course, why their only long-term agenda successes have come from the judiciary, i.e. from arbitrary decisions by one or a handful of their toadies. So what if the lefties use the recall process -- California's is more poorly designed than most, in that it does not provide for a majority or specific high plurality for the successor candidate -- but that doesn't invalidate the notion of recall itself. If they think they could get 50%+1 to kick out (insert your favourite politico here), let 'em try. They can't, of course.

More recalls, not fewer, are required, and nationwide. The filth (of either party, thank you) who lie their way into office have little or no fear of the wrath of the electorate, and it's high time they acquired some...or a lot.

It's gone way beyond race in this State. It's the commie agenda that's crept-in. Hell, the so-called minorities are scrapping amongst themselves, because they can't trust one another to provide "equality" for "all" of the races. And, and many of the whites have been so pacified, that they don't even know that they're gettin' screwed! The communists have done their jobs well in California. The level of education in this State is abominable. It's like herding sheep!

Other than public employees - especially union members - I'm not sure how many people gain from the nanny state as we have it.

I'm frankly embarassed at the quality of government services in this state. Every other state I've been to (Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, etc) has appeared to have a more together government with better services, and yet taxes and property values in all those states are much lower.

If the new governor simply points out that he's cutting back on services that were too lousy to use anyway, he might get a lot more points than you are thinking.

Remember, Gray Davis, unbelievable as this may seem now, ran as a fiscal conservative!
