The Republican spending orgy

AT THEIR national convention three years ago, Republicans pointed with pride to the GOP's record of fiscal rectitude.

''In the four decades from 1954 to 1994,'' the Republican platform declared, ''government spending increased at an average annual rate of 7.9 percent, and the public's debt increased from $224 billion to $3.4 trillion.'' Those were the profligate years, when Democrats usually controlled both houses of Congress.

Given the record of the first term, the best President Bush can hope for from a lot of his previous supporters is that they vote 3rd party rather than for a democrat.

Which of course will translate into a advantage for the jackass party. Face it in 92 a vote for Perot WAS a vote for Clinton. But, hey at least you'll have a clear conscience.

And spare me your screeds about DU and closet democrat, as I've pointed out previously, my voter registration and donation are public records.

????? Methinks you have me confused with another poster. I never said that. In fact, I agree with your assesment of GWB. We conservatives at least have a chance with the GOP. We have none at all with the jackass party and vote for a third party is a throw away vote which means advantage jackasses.

One thing about the left that the right hasn't figured out- they were willing to take thier gains in incremental steps. We conservatives haven't quite figured that out yet.

In your case are you implying that spending for a strong military that promotes the common defense of the nation would be socialism, wealth-distribution

What is throwing billions of taxpayer dollars at African nations? Or the Bush free prescriptions for senior citizens? Or the education plans? And the rest ----- very socialist and very much wealth redistribution by the government.

Did Daschle have 67 votes to override a veto?

Bush hasn't vetoed a single spending bill

Does Bush have a media that when he vetoes a farm bill will show all sides of the debate, or is he dealing with a media that will automatically take daschle's side.

Fair question, IMO.

I also accused "you" of wanting government to pay for your viagra... it's weird of you to try to use a clearly rhetorical line to prove we're being inconsistent or something

JMO, but your whole reply #107 was weird.

What all this seems to boil down to is that Republicans should return to the losing position of saving money for the RATS to spend. The angry postings against Bush replicate the heated arguments I heard from persons who considered themselves true blue conservatives and voted for Ross Perot, thus puting the Clinton RATS in power. Then there are those who sit out elections so they can remain martyrs for the cause of---??. The appointment of right thinking supreme court justices trumps every objection to George Bush thus far put forth by any of you. That will be the real test for the Bush administration and the most far reaching.

But I simply cannot respect anyone who 'sits out' their vote for whatever reason.

Like Dick Cheney?

Go ahead and sit 04 out, RJ. But that means you weill have NO RIGHT to complain or even praise anyone from 04-08.

Like that stopped them in 92. Still as citizens they have a legal right to complain about anything they want.

Bush is a profligate spender, but he really isn't much different from all Republican presidents since the 60s. Culture and politics is so dominated by television that you are really left with a East German-like system of pretend political opposition, filled with nice upper-class men like Bush who believe they should rule because they are the better sort of people, and, like CEOs who jump from company to company, don't care what they rule as long as they are players. It is SYSTEMATIC.

And the fact that Perot's wife was a bigwig in Texas planned parenthood didn't faze them either.

Like I said before on this thread these malcontents are very proficient in the practice "of cutting ones nose, to spite ones face".

I do not take issue with the contention of the abysmal state of public education today, just with the contention that the ideal of universal education is something that should be destroyed.

I'm not trying to be anything but truthful. You and your appeaser pals (yeah, that's right, appeaser) sold me and other Conservatives out. Period. It's because of YOU that the RINOs and Bushbots get away with what they do.

It's funny with you appeaser types. It's either 'perfect' or 'doormat.' You are the doormat, and you think all I want is perfect. How about a conservative that actually promotes and upholds the basic -lets say 3- tenets of Conservatism?

JMO, but Bush is 100 times better than any demo.

Here are 4 at random that are 100 times better.

Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-4)
Rep. Ken Lucas (KY-4)
Rep. Charles Steinholm (TX-17)
Rep. Gene Taylor(MS-5)

Look them up. The ACU gave them higher ratings than a lot of RINO Republicans, including my rep. So that means that I would cross over the line for the first time in my 20 plus year voting record and vote Democrat (other than for my uncle twice locally). Is that so?

Another appeaser. Conservatives are being marginalized, and you don't give a rat's @ss. Well I do. So start the name calling and pretzel logic.

Yeah whatever, you come up with 4 democrats in the House who have a good ACU rating, while completely ignoring the other 200 or so democrtas in the house with abysmal ACU ratings.

You are so transparent, but keep on posting, my friend. The more you post, the more you make my point.

Excuse me? Did I say this:

JMO, but Bush is 100 times better than any demo.

Did you mean the 'demo' guys and gals at Costco? I thought you meant Democrat. You said that Bush is 100 times better than ANY DEMOCRAT. I gave you four that point out that your statement is dubious.

Trying a red herring that questions my transparency, the size of my nose or anything else doesn't change the fact that you make statements that are full of hot air.
