9.3 million Americans that are jobless out of of an economy of 290 million people. In Germany the unemployment rate is 12% or about 5 million in a population 1/3 the size; in France unemployment is also at 11-12% (officially) in a population 2/5s the size of the US. We have 6% unemployment - big deal when one considers the US is reported to not be in a recession while the likes of Germany, France (Europe), South Korea and much of the Industralized world is in a recession. I would say based on the strength of our trading partners, BUSH is doing one hell of a job just to have US(A) in the BLACK instead of the Red. But then, come to think of it, Capitalism equates to profits (Black), while Socialism equates to deficits (Red). Freedom is good, socialism is bad.

Very well said. There are two things that are dragging on this economy:
1. Republicans aren't getting the message out that the businesses that employ (businesses built on a free market world-wide)will only pay either high wages or high taxes; they will NOT pay both. And,
2. the liberal media will only report good economic news if they have two stories of bad economic news to go with it; thus causing the sheople to withhold spending and investment.
The first reason is the most important reason though. If the republicans and conservatives within would use some of that money and educate the masses as to what big business is looking for, then you would see a massive turnout of support for tax cuts, even if they are labeled "just for the rich." I don't remember ever being offered a good job by a poor person.
