Wow, I can't imagine one person touching so many lives. What purpose his life had! I'm jealous! Would that we all could affect so many!

I, along with countless other servicemen and women, have a very special place in my heart for Bob Hope. I was front row center in my blue pajamas at the Thanksgiving show in Long Binh, RVN in November 1969.
I had threatened my doctor if he prevented me, due to my medical condition, from attending the show.
Bob was a wonderful person. I can't add anything more than what has already been said.
Tears are streaming down my face as I type this...I'm sad but also happy that he had such a long and happy life.
I can only "Hope" that I end up where he did.

Thanks for the ping Linda! What a great article.
...he once again made an impression on me that was and is forever indelible...
Carlo, this is the feeling he left with so very many of us. Thanks for putting it into words!

May he rest in God's loving arms. I hope someone in the White House has enough presence of mind to offer a place in Arlington for him to his family.
He's the only non-service member I would ever allow in there.

Didn't I read somewhere that congress had passed a bill declaring him a "Veteran"?

OMG, you are one lucky son of a gun, Carlo. Bob Hope has always been my hero. I used to listen to his radio show faithfully every Sunday night when I was a child and always enjoyed his TV specials. I remember seeing "The Lemon Drop Kid" in the big theater with my parents and even saw some of the "Road" movies.
I was just saying to my husband that he was sooooo funny and never took advantage of a "cheap" joke -- never vulgar, never crude, never obscene. He could be a little racy but it was always in good taste -- pure family entertainment. And didn't you love the way he could chide the politicians?
Do you remember when he made his last overseas trip with the USO at Christmas? Was it Gulf War I? We thought that we would have no more wars because Hope wouldn't be there to entertain the troops. Our world is poored today, but I'll bet that the heavens are laughing. May God lift him on eagles wings and hold him in the palm of His hand.

That is a great story!
I met Bob Hope by chance in Houston some years ago. He was a very nice and kind man. BTW, Bob Hope once said that the most beautiful view he had ever seen anywhere in the world was from the presidential suite of the Warwick Hotel in Houston.
They will make a movie of his life. I wonder who will play the lead?

Thanks for the vanity, carlo.
You were in the presence of greatness, and now that greatness is contributing to the Glory of Heaven.

And "The Seven Little Foys."
BTW, I always thought that Bob should have gotten the girl in the movies. I always thought he was, by far, the most interesting character.

Dear friend, I didn't know I could still ping you, but if you're lurking, know that I care and always will.
May your heart be lightened by the memories of this wonderful man.
