That's because as illegal immigrants from Mexico, they...

I'd love to finish this sentence, but I'd probably be arrested because of it...

The Organization of the NorthEast is lobbying a handful of local private universities to do more to help illegal students attend their campuses

Am I missing something here?

While I can never defend granting privileges such as these to illegal immigrants, there is much merit to the argument that they are better candidates for such aid than a student who will rush back to "my country" after soaking up our education and our education dollars.

But Ramirez-Knight ridiculed the school's assertion that the aid was too costly, considering the school's $3.3 billion endowment was the 15th largest in the country in 2002.

Ah, I get it: They Can Afford To Pay More Syndrome.

Perhaps the little Miss could ask her own government for college assistance?

Surely Fox could raise some money to finance her education, no?

They are simply caught in the process of trying to become citizens, which can take between seven and 21 years.

Oh, it's a "process" now, is it? One illegally enters our country and then has the total audacity to b*tch that they're not getting financial aid?! Unbelievable. I ask, instead, why the f*cking INS is not knocking on their doors RIGHT NOW!? I know what it takes to become a citizen (I did it), and, yes, it's a long, expensive process. But, it's worth it. But when I see crap like this, it makes me wonder why I did it at all. Not because I doubt my country; rather, just some of the idiots within it...

""A lot of people think Hispanics can't do it. We can do it. We just don't have the resources. I don't think it's fair."

Try becoming a LEGAL citizen first you twits, then the doors might open up to you. They get this unbridled arrogance from the liberal mentality that pervades America today. Personally, I think they should ship them both back to Mexico.

"We should have the opportunity to be able to go to the top universities,'' said Martha, who asked that her full name not be used. "A lot of people think Hispanics can't do it. We can do it. We just don't have the resources. I don't think it's fair."

This is like a bank robber bitching because the bank didn't give him the Bank President's personal limo as a getaway car.

It takse hudzpah to steal from the American people for all of these years then lay claim to an addition $35K/yr just because they have a well developed sense of entitlement. Tell them to take their transcripts back to Mexico and impress the college entrance boards there.

There is a presumptive arrogance here. If a US citizen, or a Guatemalan, or a Honduran or a Chinese were to go to Mexico and try this stunt of being illegal and requesting/demanding college they would be thrown into jail.

The liberal media presents this so called "unfairness" as a burden to be overcome buy the evil United States. BARF

"We just don't have the resources. I don't think it's fair."

What a cry baby. I went to 8 years of college. We didn't have the resources but I worked, my parents worked, my grandparents worked because we all knew education was important. It's not a hand out situation. My family invested in me and it was my job to make them proud and later take care of them.

It's a generational thing. You just don't work for your future. You work for those who may follow and those who have come before you. It's the right thing to do. It's sooo simple.

This women is so selfish.

What the he?? ....

What is this rampant disease going on in America?
If people are here illegally - then they've broken the law. There's no quibbling about getting Driver's licenses, or University admissions, or this special privilege, or that one.

If people want to make a case for changing the immigration laws to allow more people of this kind, or the other, immigrate - then make the case...and change the law. But don't reward people for breaking the law. This is insane.

When did the USA decide not to be a nation, and who are these 5th columnists who want to encourage this lawlessness?.... madness...

If Northwestern--one of the nation's top schools--took action, it "could set a trend'' for other private schools, said Joyce Ramirez-Knight, co-chair of the immigration strategy team for the organization.

Colleges now employ 'strategy teams' to help aid and abet illegal invaders? Is this practice legal?

The liberal academia in this country seemingly is working overtime to subvert and destroy America from within.

Is the meter running? Naah -- not as long as ALL politicians from both sides of the aisle are selling out America while pandering for votes.

"We should have the opportunity to be able to go to the top universities,''

Bull.
I want to know how they were able to attend high school in the US for 4 years.

Doesn't this p!$$ off all the immigrants who are here legally and went the extra mile to become legal citizens?

She shouldn't be attending public schools let alone collages here. Does she comprehend what "ILLEGAL" alien means? Is there some reason why she can't get LEGAL?

I was accepted to Princeton and declined because I knew it would devastate my parents financially (no pressure from them, I turned it down prior to telling Mom and Dad).

If poor and middle-income American students can't afford certain high-brow universities, why should we pay the way of foreign students of any background who aren't even here legally? Even if taxpayer dollars don't go to pay their tuition, the tuition of the American students gets raised if the university diverts funds to pay the way for illegal immigrants.

My daughter had wanted to go to Northwestern University. Her grandfather graduated from there; but, we could not afford Northwestern. Where do we get to go and whine?

"But Northwestern has rejected calls to change its policy of only offering aid to U.S. citizens or permanent residents......Because NU would have to provide all the funds itself..."

Now if the funds were coming out of the hides of Illinois taxpayers or US taxpayers, then Northwestern would be all in favor of tuition grants for illegal aliens.

I am always amazed (not) by how conservative liberals can be when it comes their OWN money.
