Realistically, will someone please tell me what can be done to get the special session back on track? I suspect that these Senate Democrats really believe that public opinion is on their side.

Have a FReeper who works at the hotel shut off the water.

How would the lack of water make a difference in the lives of a bunch of Democrats anyway? I can't believe they bathe that often...

This is like watching the break up of civil law in Texas.
What they need is a Sam Houston to bring Texas back in the Union.

Are they drinking Willy's whiskey yet? I wonder why not even that left-wingnut site is making a big deal about the Texas Dems latest 'heroic' action.

Next time you E-mail them, ask them to find out if the quarum must be held in Texas. Maybe they can get their own jet and sneak out tonight call a session in NM and meet the Chicken D's in the lobby for a breakfast quarum. Beat these suckers at their own game!

My suggestion is to co-ordinate with FReepers in New Mexico. The FReep doesn't have to be at the Marriot. We do some of our demonstrations on the steps of the local courthouse here in Louisville, KY. After you and the N.M. FReepers decide on a date, get one of them to get a demonstration permit for the front of a local building such as city hall or courthouse and then issue a press release to the local media in N.M. The 'RATS holed up in the Marriot will have a good chance of seeing the FReep covered on TV. Texas citizens standing with N.M. citizens in protest of the 'RATS will make a great news cast. Good luck.

How about just getting down there, making a citizens arrest, and drag them to the texas border? Use a couple of boxes of krispy kremes to distract the state troopers.

Those krispy kreme donuts are sure to lure Rep. Leticia Vandeputte(San Antonio) out, have you seen the size of that woman??? I know this woman personally, went to high school with her and I am totally disgusted by her actions. Although she is not my representative I plan to write, fax and email a letter to her and personally sign my whole name.

The Texas Constitution

Article 3 - LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT

Section 58 - SEAT OF GOVERNMENT

The Legislature shall hold its sessions at the City of Austin, which is hereby declared to be the seat of government.

Article 4 - EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

Section 8 - CONVENING LEGISLATURE ON EXTRAORDINARY OCCASIONS

(a) The Governor may, on extraordinary occasions, convene the Legislature at the seat of Government, or at a different place, in case that should be in possession of the public enemy or in case of the prevalence of disease threat. His proclamation therefor shall state specifically the purpose for which the Legislature is convened.

This is actually a good thing. At the start of the next legislative session, the Republicans should bring up the redistricting issue again, the DemonRats will then run to NM or AZ or somewhere. THEN AT THAT POINT the Republicans should then start passing a bunch of nice legislation zip zip zip that just requires a simple majority. No DemonRats there, perfect time to do a whole bunch of good stuff. The heat will be on, they will have to return (in loud vocal protest of course) at which time -- grab 'em, pass the redistricting, all done.

The Senate still needs 2/3rds present for a quorum to do business.... thus if one democrat is left in place like they have this time all he has to do is request a quorum call.... shut down again. That's really why they can't convene now and pass this redistricting bill with a majority which is all it takes to pass the legislation....

If they refuse to show up for the next couple weeks, I'd say y'all should declare a vacancy by reason of abdication and relocation to New Mexico, and hold new elections.

Also, y'all can "compel the attendance of absent members, in such manner and under such penalties as each House may provide." Might this authorize the Senate to declare abdications, write death warrants, impose heavy fines, and require the incarceration of chronically absent members until the end of their terms, at the expens of the absent members? Absent members should be shackled to the floor of the Senate during sessions and held in jail behind bars, possbily under torture, and in shackles at all other times.

I'm posting this to several threads, so ignore if it's in your way:

For all, please take a look at this
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/955172/posts
Or go straight to the South Texas Republicans website and forum at
http://pub16.bravenet.com/forum/show.php?usernum=1294041878&cpv=1

Several of these Texans are going to Albuquerque over the weekend to meet with Van de Putte (and hopefully some of the other Senators). The plan is to take her copies of emails and the forum comments about her actions. Unfortunately, there are many comments on the forum in favor of the Democratic runaways.

By the way, one newsletter (The Citizens Action Network http://www.txcan.org ) is calling the Democrats the "Alba turkeys." The FreeMarket Foundation has commentary on the legal aspects of the flight of the chicken D's.
http://www.freemarket.org/portal/index.php?option=news&task=viewarticle&sid=55

In San Antonio, the Express News' columnist, Roddy Stinson is calling the whole incident "Runagate."
