LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hustler magazine publisher and would-be California governor Larry Flynt has been sued for sexual harassment by a former employee who claims she found sex toys in the company dishwasher. Elizabeth Rene Raymond, a former executive assistant to two top officers of Flynt's company, Larry Flynt Publications, sued for sexual harassment and wrongful dismissal from her job on Monday, the same day as Flynt announced he was running in California's October gubernatorial recall election under the slogan "a smut peddler who cares".
Raymond, who was fired from her job a year ago, claims that Flynt fostered a hostile work environment. She said in the lawsuit she had found sex toys in the company dishwasher that were "used on the prostitutes who visited his office." Raymond was dismissed shortly after complaining to her supervisors.
Flynt Publications did not immediately return calls for comment on the lawsuit.
Flynt, 61, told a news conference on Monday he planned to run in the October ballot to unseat California Gov. Gray Davis, but would not spend millions campaigning if private polling showed that his background in pornography and gambling made him unacceptable to voters.

When you work at a place like that you've just got to expect those things. I smell a gold-digger.

Did she say how hot the water was? And was it set on "pots and pans" or a quick cycle?

Hey they were dirty. What'd she expect him to do? Harrassment? What was her job anyway?
Flynt sure gets a lot of nookie for a guy in a wheelchair. Gotta give him that!

If Bill Clinton was qualified to be president of the United States, Larry Flint is qualified to be governor of the state of California.

Pure unadulterated sleaze.

Isn't being able to perform in a hostile work environment kind of a bona fide job requirement of working at Hustler Magazine? From what I've heard, the product they put out each month makes sex toys in the dishwasher look tame by comparison.
If the sex toys were put in the dishwasher with the intent that she find them in order to harrass her, she may have a point. If they were put in the dishwasher just to get them clean, and she found them incidentally, it's hard to see why they stand out as the one thing that makes that work-place hostile.
As with many lawsuits, I think the name of the game is to threaten to release damaging information in a public record in order to twist the arm of your adversary. This fits with issuing a press release the day after Flynt announces for Governor. It boggles the mind to think that Flynt might not be the sleaziest person involved here. Unfortunately for her, this woman may not realize that it is theoretically impossible to further sully the name of Larry Flynt. It probably enhances his public stature for people to know he gets visited by hookers in the office.

At Hustler she should be shocked if she actually found dishes in the "sex toy washer".
To: HAL9000
"a smut peddler who cares" He's actually going to SAY that. Color me absolutely dumbfounded.

Larry Flynt is living proof of the adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

EXACTLY...If she were going to work for Jerry Falwell and this happened, I could understand her being shocked, but
FLYNT?
Now, there are those cynic smartasses out there who trash religion that would say they would expect this of Jerry Falwell (or any Evangelist)...THOSE people are exactly the kind who will vote for Flynt for California governor, and I hope he wins...People like that deserve to have the stark reality of their imbicilic, immature actions blow up in their faces.
