Clinton rallies round California's Davis
By Hugh Davies
(Filed: 07/08/2003)
Bill Clinton has become a behind-the-scenes adviser to California's Democratic governor, Gray Davis.
Mr Clinton is becoming a regular visitor to Los Angeles and is said to be "micro-managing" Mr Davis's fight to survive a recall election in October.
The ex-president is seen as determined to use all his efforts to keep the Republicans from grabbing power in a state that is often crucial in influencing the outcome of presidential campaigns.
His wife, Hillary, now a senator, is teeing herself up to run for election as America's first woman president in 2008. She has already said she will visit California on the governor's behalf.
Arianna Huffington, 53, the former wife of the oil millionaire Michael Huffington, said yesterday she will run for governor as an independent if Mr Davis loses the recall vote.
But the film star Arnold Schwarzenegger was preparing last night to announce that he will not run.

What are the Democrats worried about? They should
want the Republicans to take California off their hands.

Good luck. Clinton hasn't had spectacular success wherever he's laid his pawprints.

At least Bubba will be in good company, what with Larry Flynt trying to get involved.

Clinton is the best thing that ever happened to the GOP. The Kalifornia Rats probably promised him some young babes if he would help Davis.

With Arnold in the race, it will get very ugly indeed as the CLintons don't want to be on a losing team and will do whatever it takes to try and bring Arnold down.

Yep, look for them to look into things in his past, with Kennedy help no doubt.

Well, Mr. Bill -- you may be too late to help your buddy, Davis... THE TERMINATOR IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To: CarmelValleyite
clinton vs the Terminator, let the good times roll ...LOL
To: blam
This is going to be bad for bill, with The Terminator throwing his hat into the ring ;) LOL I like it!

Rumor has it that Bill Clinton and Gray Davis have concluded that there is only way to save Davis: Clinton will be videotaped giving Davis a "Lewinsky" in the governor's office, and they will then claim that the whole recall effort is just about sex.
/sarcasm off/

Like the way he rallied around Carl McCall or Andy Cuomo or any number of losing candidates during the 2002 elections?
