Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) --Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor who is running for governor of California, said billionaire investor Warren Buffett will be the financial and economic adviser to his political campaign, the campaign said in a statement.

Buffett, the world's second-richest man, has built a fortune buy buying companies through his company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's assistant, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

It's very possible that Buffet can suggest ways that California can be made more business-friendly. That's probably all that Arnold wants from him.

Why have you given up hope? Buffet can provide plenty of useful information to Arnold on what the state needs to do to attract businesses and fix its credit rating and its energy mess.

So far there is no evidence that he doesn't plan to unveil a plan in a couple of weeks that includes cutting spending. Just wait for the plan, and then we can discuss its merits. Dreier did say last night that Arnold opposes the car tax increase.

Close - I'd suggest that the right voting strategy (and the one I'll use - I do have the good^H^H^H^Hmisfortune of living here) is:

1. If it's close between Cruz and Arnold, vote for Arnold. One chance in 10,000 that yours might actually be the deciding vote, and Arnold is the lesser of two evils. Can you imagine going through life knowing that Cruz had won by a single vote, and your vote would have changed the outcome, if only you had placed it right.
2. If it's not close, either way, vote for the man you really wish would win, McClintock in this case. No chance your vote will be the tie breaker, so spend it sending an itsy bitsy teeny weenie message, a note in a bottle dropped off the Golden Gate bridge on the outgoing tide, to future generations.
3. If it wasn't close because Cruz was winning, bring home a bottle of cheap whiskey, and get plastered. Just when it couldn't get any worse, it does.
