"You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked." – Revelation 3:17
Homosexuals thrive on deceit. The first people they deceive are always themselves. With the ascension of Gene Robinson to bishop in the Episcopal Church, that deceit has now "been piled high unto Heaven." Mr. Robinson, as you may recall, abandoned his wife and children to live with his homosexual lover. That qualification was apparently adequate to be appointed an Episcopal bishop.
God, on the other hand, has previously set his qualifications for the office of bishop. He describes them in a letter penned by Timothy. Among the qualifications God looks for are "the husband of one wife," and he must "manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect." (I Timothy 3:2-7). But then, when was the last time that God's desires had any effect on the actions of the Episcopal hierarchy?
The church's actions in this appointment indicate that the Episcopal leadership are in God's sight exactly what Jesus Christ described in our opening passage: "Wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked." Jesus' further counsel to the Laodicean Episcopal church is to "buy from me gold, refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." (Rev. 3:18).
If God condemns the Episcopal leadership from Heaven, however, the words of praise in this world have been unceasing. One letter writer in USA Today praised "Christianity, along with other faiths, [which] has come a long way and evolved with the times." Such praise dwindles in value, however, when one considers the depth of ignorance from which it springs.
Even as secular a book as a dictionary confirms that God's character is: "perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions." As people of all faiths know, a perfect God could only "evolve" into imperfection. Only in today's world of homoerotic journalism, which takes perverse pleasure in having its way with the truth, could such nonsense be promulgated.
The Bible, which is God's written, historical record of his dealings with mankind, has already spoken about homosexuality. Contrary to what boatloads of homosexual activists gliding up and down "denial" have offered as revisionary history, God finds homosexual behavior "an abomination" from start to finish, and he has no plans for it or its adherents in Heaven.
In Genesis, the historical account suggests that homosexual gang rape of visitors to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was commonplace. This leads one to believe it was sanctioned by the cities' leadership. Their final mistake was the attempted rape of two of God's angelic messengers, sent to "see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached Me. If not, I [God] will know." (Gen. 18:21).
Lot, one of the few men of Sodom grieved by this behavior, prevailed upon the angel investigators (appearing as men) not to sleep in the public square, but in his home. Then this:
Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom – both young and old – surrounded the house. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." – Genesis 19:4-5
In Lot's desperate attempt to protect his visitors, he even offered his daughters, which the men outside spurned. At this point, the angels revealed their identity as they struck the mob with blindness, revealed Sodom's impending destruction and ordered Lot to flee. The next day, God demonstrated his thoughts on any society that embraces homosexuality.
It would appear that homosexuals today are smitten with the same blindness their brethren in Sodom and Gomorrah experienced. They believe that by infiltrating church hierarchy, mouthing the words "tolerance and justice," and evicting God from the church they can have their way with God and his people. History tells us plainly that God will destroy any nation subscribing to that lie.
Christians who have allowed the takeover of their church hierarchy by ungodly men and women will answer to Jesus for their apathy toward God's word. They have no choice now but to "flee the wrath to come." The Episcopal Church's leadership have now chosen to spit in God's face. God allowed that once in the person of Jesus as He hung on that Cross, in your place and mine. Those who reject His sacrifice and go their own way will endure God's righteous wrath firsthand for all of eternity.
Because homosexuals have chosen to force the issue, the Church needs clarity in dealing with them. There can be no question that God condemns unrepentant homosexuals for their behavior and they will be forever excluded from his presence. There can also be no question that the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on that Cross 2,000 years ago covers homosexual sin, as well as your sin and mine. Jesus paid the price for all sin, for all eternity – if we will but accept it and repent (turn away). Those engaged in open sin can never have a voice in church leadership, because God has forbidden it.
