It's only pre-season but...

Dallas rebounded from a dismal showing last week to slap the Texans around 34-6, with Quincy Carter playing well. Bill Parcells said he wants to see a little more from his players, indicating the comments by Jeremy Shockey may not be that far off base.

Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb both played well, but the Packers slipped by the Browns 38-31, with Bret Farve having a good game. The Packers, who perform well whenever there's nothing on the line, said they're not planning on folding until the first round of the playoffs, when they'll jump to the AFC to get clobbered by the Bengals.

The Colts beat the Seahawks (what a shock, the Seahawks lost), but nobody knows about it, as the cokehead owner is about to move them to LA and nobody went to the game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Miami Dolphins in the "ugliest uniforms in the NFL" bowl. Miami quarterback Jay Fiedler says he wants the Buccaneers to bring back the gay pirate uniforms, as too many people are now making fun of how the Dolphins look with the dorky porpoise on their helmets.

Good summary. If you are not a sportswriter you should horn in on the market.

Howard Cosell. There were more great quotes about him.

"A legend in his own mind"

"He went to Japan and heard a guy say 'ah so', and he said, 'you talking to me/'"

"Look at that little monkey run."

He had the worst rug in the history of the league.

Thank you. Every year, I swear I'm going to become one of those elitist snobs who says, "I just don't watch sports anymore." However, if big guys on steroids are running into each other, I'm there.

BTW, I do photograph high school games for small weekly papers, and end up writing a couple of bylines. Nothing as sarcastic as what I've got here, of course.

It was just a stupid comment. He called Parcells a homo. Actually, it's pretty tough to find something that Shockey hasn't said.

BTW are you still stuck in New Awleens? I lived there for a while in the 70's. I either loved it or hated it. Think I hated it. Got to see Ali fight Leon Spinks live, there, though, and used to take the streetcar (yes Freepers, there is a streetcar named "Desire" in Awleens, there's also a streetwalker named Desire) to the Saints games. This was when they were called the Aints, and fans wore bags on their heads to the games. Is Fat Harrys still open? How about the Bright Star cafe? On Panola Street. Used to serve the best fried oysters in the state, which means in the world.

We'll see. And it's "Brett". And his picture is my wallpaper. : )

Perhaps "The Homo" Parcells could redesign them...a queer eye for the straight football guy.

It's only pre-season but...

An NFL preseason game is 20 times more exciting as any single baseball game all year. Basketball too. What lame ass "sports". Football is the true "America's Game". F**k baseball.

Especially when the closest team is the Rangers. However, I don't know what it is about an autumn day and a football game. Actually, I prefer the small-town high school game to anything else.

As a Cowboys fan, you realize I also have to be a Packer fan. Vince Lombardi, you know. I also have a lot of respect for Farve. Do you think they'll be able to overcome the problems in the other areas this year?

The Pack was better than the score -- Browns got a phantom touchdown.
