More from NY1 News. Still being investigated.

Phoned-In Threat Grounds Flight At LaGuardia Airport

AUGUST 17TH, 2003 Some passengers headed from LaGuardia to Fort Lauderdale were put on other flights after a phoned-in threat grounded their plane Saturday night.

Police ordered passengers to leave the plane at 9:30 Saturday night and American Airlines canceled the flight. An airline spokesman said the flight crew already worked the maximum allowable hours because of an earlier delay.

Besides the phone call, officials also say a passenger was deemed "suspicious,” but won't say why.

The Port Authority is investigating.
