In Judaism, it is forbidden to go to an astrologer as one might put their faith in the astrologer rather than G-d. It is looked on as a form of idol worship. There is a form a "Jewish" astrology, but I have no experience in it.

In Judaism there is a path that the world is destined to follow. It is called in Hebrew "Mazal". The word is often used like one would say luck, as in "Mazal Tov" or good luck. The word in the actually scriptual usage that I have studied has to do with divine providence. That is why we pray to G-d. Since G-d created the world's "mazal", he can alter it with our prayers (if he so chooses).

Divine providence is an altogether confusing subject in itself. The bottom line is that G-d wants us to come and ask him for our "good fortune" instead of going to astrologers or seers. It is taught that to put one's trust in anything else is to subject oneself to the mazal of the world that he created.

Poor choice of words:

I have the CURSE of ESP, and believe me my friend, I would not wish that upon my worse enemy.

Are you troubled by multiple visions? Anything like David Michael Scallion?

No!

Private questions like that should be by private Freeper mail. However, your Biblical perspective was rather accurate and is respected.

I was too hasty in my post. I should have explained this better so here goes. When you make predictions, there is a chance they could be correct. Shall we use flipping a coin? Will it be heads or tails? Statistically there should be a 50/50 chance for either side to be up. So in 100 flips there should be 50 of each. However, this is not always the case. There could be more heads one time or more tails the next. The following link will describe the curve, control charts, and what 3 sigma is. I was commenting that those predictions made could have fallen within the realm of statistical probability.

You know, I never asked him... I'll check with my astrologer, she'll know!

As a scientist, the website that RadioAstronomer just posted is very important information. Read and learn, since this is one of the most basic aspects of the scientific method.

I will never, ever claim that my ESP could be documented and be verified within mathematical standards. Believe me, I am the first person that will call it impossible to document within scientific standards.

Believe me, this week, I hope like hell that I am wrong. I am praying that I am wrong! I will do anything to make it wrong.

MY MOTHER WILL DIE OF CANCER, AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT.

Two weeks ago, she went into the hospital for minor surgery. No big deal, since it is something she had done about 10 times.

I knew this time was different, and wrote it down, with the date and time. Oh my God, my mother is going to die!

While under this minor surgery, the Doctor noticed something unusual, and decided to check it out.

My Mother has advanced Lymphoma!

Believe me my friends, there are time when I wish to hell that I did not know!

Ah, my sincere apologies. I did not mean to pry. I will address any further questions via FReepmail.

As for the accuracy of the Bibical perspective, it is a fairly straight forward teaching in traditional Jewish philosophy.

Maybe thats why the results sucked, if the signs were correct they'd have actually aced the scrutiny...

i'm sorry about your mother.

how about if all the esp people and astrologers each post ten predictions BEFORE THEY HAPPEN. then we can have a good test of astrology and esp right here. the skeptics can keep track of the number of predictions that turn out to be right.
i predict (based on my advanced astrological knowledge) that the hit rate will be equal to chance.

I have tried to type a decent reply, but nothing seems to be correct.

I have stated many times tonight that Astrology is only a tool. What God tells you, is something very personal.

These are tools that people can use to help them listen to the quiet messages that God is telling you. There are so many other methods, it would be impossible for me to list them.

I thank you for your expression of sorrow about my mother. Obviously, tonight was not fun for me.

But why should my mother and I feel sad? Is she not about to begin something much more wonderful?

If anything, this should be PARTY TIME!

i'm sorry that i misinterpreted what you were saying. i believe that God probably chooses many different ways to speak to people.

my comments about astrology were meant more for those people who are claiming that it (or other techniques) give them special abilities to predict the future. i realize that you are saying something different, and i shouldn't have mixed the 2 things together. it would be arrogant and unreasonable for me to question another person's religious beliefs, and i am not questioning how God chooses to speak to you.
i am questioning those people who claim to be able to predict future events.
again, sorry for mixing these 2 things together.
