...is an oximoron. But I have never heard the left complaining about Christian Astrology, only about the monument? They are all fine with the Astrology part, as with anything that perverts the Christian faith...

"Today i'm ashamed to be an American.I have taken down my flag and refuse to fly it.It is a disgrace for brave men and women to fight and die for our freedoms while an American judiciary tears those freedoms down!!This is now a country that rewards criminality but persecutes people because of their religious beliefs. So much for freedom."

That's a bit melodramatic don't you think?

Ah ok. Well, God bless you. Please pray for these people going to jail. I realise you don't believe in their sincerity, but what if you're wrong? Both Moore and Keyes could have chosen much easier paths. FReegards....

Hooray for Moore saying screw the SCOTUS in response to this decision!!!

Keep it up.

He may be an egomaniac like some claim, but he is on the right side of this issue and is one of the few leading the charge. Even if he has bad motives, I will support him and most Alabamans are as well.

The law does not trump the constitution. It's the other way around. Congress has no right to pass law that requires you to adopt a specific religion. Separation of church and state is nowhere in the constitution, the Bill of rights or the declaration of independance. Nowhere. And regardless of what has been imposed upon this judge and the state of Alabama, if it is unconstitutional, I say as our forefathers said. 'The court has ruled, now let the court enforce it's judgement.'

If you don't have separation of church and state (a phrase that I believe was first attributed to Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence and was heavily involved in the drafting of the Bill of Rights), then the establishment clause will become meaningless and unenforceable. As for your last sentence, it would be a complete, unmitigated disaster for the rule of law -- and a violation of his oath to uphold the federal and Alabama constitutions -- for the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court to take that position.

Of course the monument should stay. The point was that obviously there was a more secure way to keep it - legaly speaking. And there might still be a way.

You idiot.

He put it there overnight because the monument was late in arriving. It was not planned to put it there overnight.

Stop spreading lies.

I am ashamed of this forum. What ever happened to this place? We need men. We need courage. Most of all, we need God.

ABC just covered Moore supporters being arrested inside the Courthouse. From the report, the supporters linked hands around the monument and were arrested when they refused to stop or refused to leave (I'm relying on memory). I saw one man walking away, with his hands in tie wraps, being escorted by two police officers.

There was also a crowd outside the courthouse, on the steps. I don't know if they were blocking the entrance to the courthouse or just looking inside while the arrests were taking place.

I can dig it out, but the administrator of the courts had set out rules for visitors to the courthouse.

Who cares when the monument was put there, anyway? I could care less. It's a silly accusation to begin with, "... in the dead of night... " If I'm not mistaken, it was one of Moore's campaign promises when he was elected by Alabama, clearly no secret. That is nothing but venomous spin.

The smartest conservative in the world would lose this case, so don't insult Moore.

Yes, he isn't the smartest guy around, but the courts are so messed up that any judge would lose this case.

Never said that morality was invented in the Old Testament or New. . .

What you said in a thread titled with the 10C is this:

Where do people think our notions of crime and punishment come from? Right/wrong?

If you were implying our country only, I can agree to a degree. If you are saying all notions come from the 10C, I can't disagree strongly enough.

Sorry for the stupid remark, I just hate religions that think they have a patent on morality.

"...well...violence in the Name of Christ is almost as brutal and has just as long a history. How many have died because of the Crusades, the Inquisition, The Reformation, Irish/English violence?"

LOL. Christians set new standards in humanitarian aide. Christians are the most easilly suckered into gun control and shrinking military budgets 'beating swords into plowshares'. Yeah, we're real monsters, alright. Look at us shooting people right now for messing with our monument! Try knocking down an Islamic mosque some time. Then you will see some real brutality. Heck, you can burn down a Christian church and all we do is file for insurance claims.

I agree with you. Federal appointees makes it a federal level matter - meaning US wide vote. That's the way I'd look at it. Anybody here know the actual process for impeaching federal judges.

"It's not like somebody's about to face execution, if the court doesn't enter a stay the person will be dead and the appeal will be moot," said David Frederick, a Washington attorney who specializes in Supreme Court practice. "If the Supreme Court were to decide it's constitutional, it can always be put back."

"The Negro slaves can always be freed later," he added. "It's nothing urgent."

There should never have been a ruling outside of Federal jurisdiction in the first place.

Unfortunately there was. Let's address that in a separate lawsuit however. Otherwise the point gets lost in the noise.

What matters is, one side stands for the Constitution and the 10 Commandments. The other side stands against the Constitution and the 10 Commandments.

You are right. I also hate procedural mumbo-jumbo. But the courts are the ones that have the right to interpret the Constitution and laws in legal cases. Of course they are full with moles who hate Christianity. My question is - why make their job easier?
