Good Afternoon -- how is it going? Slow getting back -- think my ISP must have had a virus as I started posting back to you several times and my cable modem went down! I should have replied last night when it was up all the time! Been going on for over a week!

Unlike Bush I, he is not making promises he can not keep.

If he can't do it without raising taxes, then he's not a serious candidate.

Is money more important than life?

If you're referring to the abortion issue, no, money isn't more important than life. But tell me how abortion plays out in this election, why it's a crucial issue in a governor's race, particularly in a recall election which was prompted by the fiscal crisis in the state.

There are advantages to a Bustamante victory, yes. Mostly, he will be a governor unable to govern, because his tax hike isn't going anywhere.

The only advantage to an Arnold victory is that Issa might be emboldened to challenge Boxer. That would be the silver lining.

I don't think Arnold's policies will be substantially different from the current administration, except that he will be friendlier with the teachers' unions--he's already promised not to touch education spending, and Davis tried to cut education in his proposed budget.

No, I am not a Californian, but trust me that this race is my business and I have an iron in this fire.

Truth be told, there hasn't been an election where I haven't had to bite the bullet. (And, if I come around to voting for McClintock in the recall election, I'll have to bite the bullet to do so, because there are some aspects to his candidacy for governor that I don't like.) Every election requires voting for someone less than ideal. But, that doesn't bother me, because the world isn't perfect, so why should I expect the candidates for election to be perfect?

And as to most conservative Republicans, the loyal rank and file, wanting to rid the Party of the Olympia Snowes, the Susan Collinses, and so for forth, perhaps this is true in the long term, when we can afford to jettison them. But if having Lincoln Chafee in the Senate means the difference between having a Republican as Majority Leader of the Senate, or Tom Daschle, frankly, I'm glad Lincoln Chafee is there. Rhode Island is likely not going to vote for someone I might think is a more rank-and-file Republican.

In the Public Policy Institute of California survey published today, McClintock was at 5%.

Rob Lowe, Sheen’s former co-star on “The West Wing,” told Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" on Monday that Americans should support our armed forces, and that the best way to do that is to support our commander in chief.

This won't impress some of the "real" conservatives who oppose US involvement in the world in general.

So, Rob Lowe supports Arnold. The two of them are friends. The real headline here should be "Schwartzenegger Supported by Personal Friend"...Scandalous.

It happens. Look at comedian Dennis Miller who was a liberal not too very long ago. :-)

I've noticed that, and have posted a summary of an interview with Rob Lowe that showed him to be reforming as well. My question is: Are they getting more conservative, or is the Dimocrat party just getting so much more left wing that it makes everyone look more conservative?

Reagan was a conservative.

Yet Reagan failed to end the Department of Education, continued to fund US involvement in the UN, bailed out of Lebanon at the first sign of trouble, signed a tax increase in 1986, granted amnesty to illegal aliens, and as Governor placed state withholding on paychecks, signed a tax increase in 1967, and signed the nation's most liberal abortion bill. I love the guy, but even he compromised when it wasn't essential to the big picture.

yours was a dishonest question u/s... and of the typical "baiting" variety being used by "one issue" and "true conservative" voters who are neither republican or conservatives. They usually originate from "religious socialists" or "wedge issue" plants that have ulterior motives... either xpanding their own "new and improved" conservative party or drawing off support for their guaranteed "loser" but "true conservative" heros. And at times they are backed by democrats who will split any hair to keep a republican from being elected.

The more accurate question (and honest one too) in the context of this election in California is "Is it more important to stop women from killing their babies, than it is to feed your own? Isn't it more important even if we lose the election and the children will be put to death (in that case) anyway?"

Answer: "NO."
Suggestion for one issue voters: Please let us take care of our own families and economic needs... and simultaneously work on changing people's hearts instead of trying to instantly criminalize all the "evil women" as our own children do without, we lose our homes, our local churches fail and we experience continued collapse of the free worlds fifth largest economy.

Your question as phrased presents a very FALSE and dishonest dichotomy.

Although I am sure you can expect THE "true conservatives" to agree with you and "real conservatives" to start pointing these false dichotomies out...

D-1 was right to call you on it. He's no abortion proponent. I resent the insinuation that refusal to support Mc, is in any way an endorsement of infanticide...

This argument is moot. The bill, SB 1301, was signed by Davis last year.

It can't be repealed? It can't be expanded?
