Today is WRITE FOR W FRIDAY! This Friday and every Friday, Freepers will be getting together to write letters to the editor to counter the lies in the liberal media and the latest Democrat attacks against President Bush. Bush haters have also chosen today to send letters to the editor, which is why it's critical to have a HUGE turnout by FReepers TODAY.
What to write about? These great stories may give you some ideas:
Write your letter today, and tell ALL of your friends on e-mail and FR to do the same!
This is where it gets good. Today is "Unstable Stewardship Friday" and we're taking the Bushies to task for their anti-environmental policies:
Consumers are more confident about the economy's prospects and the extra money in their paychecks from the tax cuts are giving them the wherewithal to spend. People kept buying this month, suggesting that economic expansion is picking up speed.
``Consumers are leading the economy to much stronger growth in the second half,'' said Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Banc of America Capital Management in St. Louis. ``We are seeing the impact of the large reduction in withholding rates as well'' as the child credit payment checks that the government began mailing last month.
At the behest of a "conservative" web site called Free Republic I am writing to tell you just how much I love President Bush and all he has done for me.
First of all, he and Teddy Kennedy enacted the most far-reaching, and expensive, federal intervention into education in our nation's history. Now I know my kids will get a great education because the federal government will see to it. In the old days, conservatives used to question what constitutional authority the federal government had in education, but not today. Thanks to GW, no one in the Republican Party even cares anymore. We're getting the soccer mom vote, after all.
My president also had the courage to stand up and defend the steel workers of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia by imposing steel tariffs against those lousy foreign companies that sell steel cheap to people like General Motors and General Electric. I think it's patriotic to pay more for cars and appliances to keep those good American jobs right here where they belong. When prices go up and people stop buying, they can just impose price controls. Good old GW has demonstrated that he'll do what it takes to keep this economy rolling.
Speaking of which. How about those tax reductions? Now there's a true conservative! Especially since my good ol' prez had the courage to increase domestic spending by way more than the growth in the economy at the same time. Don't you see, he's giving us our cake and we're eating it, too. This new neo-conservatism is great. We don't worry about deficits or the value of our money. Just lower the taxes and tomorrow will take care of itself. Everybody wins. The liberals keep their big government and the taxpayers pay less in taxes. Why didn't anybody ever think of this before? Talk about genius.
Oh, and let me say how pleased I am with the new security apparatus in the Homeland Protection Act my courageous president has enacted into law. I sure rest a lot easier knowing that I am scanned and body searched by federal agents every time I travel. And those new wiretapping provisions, and laws about putting people in jail with no trials. Just the shot in the arm this country needs. Citizen or no citizen, let Padilla rot in jail with no rights whatsoever for the rest of his life, I say. I feel better just knowing that rotten terrorist is locked up for good. And because GW is in charge, I just know the federal government would never abuse its power.
I probably shouldn't have gotten started, because I am just gushing with enthusiasm now as I think of all the great things GWB has done. For example, $15 billion in AIDS relief for Africa. Now there's something that will pay us dividends for years and years to come. And our brave troops in Liberia. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about the honor of their great mission as they defend our freedom on that foreign shore.
Also, let's not forget how GWB signed campaign finance reform and brought decency and honesty back to our government. Now, the evil-doers who want to question our good and decent lawmakers have to keep their mouths shut before the election, freeing the airwaves for the commercials by the incumbents. And, since the incumbents can's afford them, the wise and liberty-loving federal government pays. Yes, GWB knows just how important it is to protect democracy from those with dangerous ideas.
But I saved the best for last. As a baby boomer, I must say that of all the things he has done, I will be most eternally grateful to GW for supporting prescription drugs and Medicare. Of course, my generation was raised on drugs, so we know how important they are to our well-being. In the early days, we just had pot and LSD, mescaline and the like. Crude stuff we had to make in high school chemistry labs. Today, we have potent medicinal marijuanna, Prozac, Statins, Ritilin, Celebrex, and the grandaddy of all for boomers -- Viagra. These designer drugs are way better han that crap we used to do in college. And now thanks to my President, they're gonna be free because the government will pay for them. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Who woulda thought that the federal government would one day give me a hard-on for life?
I also want to thank Free Republic, the conservative web site, for sponsoring Write for W Friday. What a great idea! The President needs all the support he can get, and we need to get behind him all the way.
Signed,
Brain Dead and Mind-Numbed in Pennsylvania.
