I'm searching my memory for stories about Al Franken told by Melanie Morgan, talk show host on San Francisco's KSFO radio. It seems that she had been on a TV show as a guest along with Franken. Franken was so incensed by her views, that he somehow got her home phone number and would call her at home at scream at her. She also mentioned another guest whose name I can't recall, who had similar conservative viewpoints. Franken followed him down the hallway after the show and yelled at him. The guy is a taco short of a combo plate.

Why doesn't somebody just crack his jaw?

Franken, you see, had been a 20 year writer for Saturday Night Live. To many, that seems like quite an accomplishment. To those of us in the industry, it means total failure.

I remember watching SNL, at age 12 whe it first came on in the 70's. And seeing "The Franken and Davis" show skit, which, even at that age, I thought was completely stupid, compared to the other talent on that show.

Al Franken was never funny. Ever. He never will be. He is a failure, and a legend only in his small little mind.

My wife's ex-boyfriend was a physical therapist here in NYC, treating the best dancers and athletes. Al Franken was a client of his for a back injury, and he told her that he hated treating Franken because (and I quote) "he had the smelliest butt of anyone I have ever treated". He ended up telling his secretary to tell Franken he was on vacation every time he called for an appointment. True Story!

I think I'm going to hurl. Thank God I work in AZ!!

I remember reading a book about SNL a couple of years ago..there was a part in the book about a commentary frunken wanted aired during the SNL news..it seems one rainy nite in NYC, frunken was looking for a cab and couldn't find one..suddenly a limo showed up for the President of NBC (Fred Silverman I think) and the pres whizzed off without getting wet..well, supposedly frunken came up with a commentary called, "Limo for the Lamo"..supposedly they had to argue with the network over whether or not to air it..and I don't remember if he aired it or not..but what I do remember is this..everyone involved, including supporters of frunken, all agreed that the commentary was NOT funny..maybe some research and I can find that chapter..

Thanks for posting the entire thing. I can't say I'm surprised: I remember watching Franken and Bill O'Reilly square off on TV. I didn't need anybody to tell me that Franken was a celebrity-hungry buffoon.

I remember SCTV when it was just on Canadian television (I lived in north Ohio and got CBC). I hold out hope that at least Canada will see fit to release a set of DVDs of this series.

Just when you thought there would never be a use for the word "pipsqueak," Al Franken rears his ugly head.

I keep wanting to think he is a diversity hire, or a token something or other, but the only underrepresented group I seem to come up with that fits is, to be polite, rumpswabs.

His book is so pathetic, I hide it behind Hillary's Lying History books!
