I went to the airport today to drop off my teenage son... just as I have done so often... He is growing up so fast, I had to smile as he blushed when I hugged and kissed him and said.. "I LOVE YOU MY BOY"
.. I don't care, he can puke for all I care..ha!.. it's the price he has to pay for having an old Italian dad.. He gathered up his luggage and hurried down the long concourse.. and before he was completely gone from sight, he stopped and turned, and a weak smile came across that beautiful face. He waved once more and his mouth whispered "I LOVE YOU DAD"..and I thought I saw a tear in his eye. I can't be sure, because my eyes were tearing....
It is only for a weekend, but.. for just an instance .... Dear God bring him home safely...

I buried my younger brother yesterday...and I thought about what I had last said to him.

Indeed, we never know what can happen. So important to tell our loved ones how we feel, and often! And to cherish each day.
Thanks Carlo. Freepers are the best!

Can't have too much love. I kiss my sons hello and goodbye, and they are teenagers, but their dad won't kiss them anymore, says they are too old.
Seems like things are more complicated when you are a guy.
I miss my grandmothers all the time. Wish I could have them back.
Wish my kids had met them. Wish my kids had met my husband's parents, too, and his grandmother.
So, you're right. Give lots of love, never pass up an opportunity to say "I love you," and do the little things they ask you to do.

Oh Carlo, I love that song and must admit I have a very warm spot for you.
it's the price he has to pay for having an old Italian dad.. And how fortunate he is to have an affectionate dad. This Italian mom is desperately trying to hold it together as we get ready to bring my son to college tomorrow morning. Everyone says he will be just fine but try telling it to someone who catered to his every whim, whether he objected to it or not. My heart is so very heavy and the timing of your post was so needed...
Have I told you lately that I love you.... well darling I'm telling you now.

Gee wiz, man! I'm trying not to be a sentimental 90's guy, but you just ruined all that!
But I love you guys and gals, too. God bless all of you!
Thanks, Carlo.

What a wonderful Dad you are. My son lives 6 hours away from me and it so hard for us to visit as he is a ministers, and ministers do not get weekends off. Thank you for these wonderful words, you have made my evening. You have put a big smile on my face.
Grateful for the smile.....conservativeammon
