Don't worry. The eagle may have a lit dynamite in its claw, but it is far too stupid to drop it before it goes off.

These people need to read up on what happened at Altanta 1864 (not to mention Mexico City, 1846) before they play that game.

Mecha is about assimilation?

Assimilating the American Southwest into Mexico.

Thank you for the link...

1. UNITY in the thinking of our people concerning the barrios, the pueblo, the campo, the land, the poor, the middle class, the professional-all committed to the liberation of La Raza.

La Raza = the Race.

"...committed to the liberation" of the Race. And how exactly does that happen unless they plan on taking over...

MiddleEast situation...deja vu, all over around (Yogi Berra)...

This map claims a lot of territory that was never even notionally a part of Mexico (Oregon, Idaho, Kansas). The Adams-Onis Treaty between the U.S. and Spain drew the boundary lines--the northern border of Spanish territory was 42 degrees North (present-day northern border of California and Nevada). Mexico inherited a claim to those territories after winning independence, but most of those lands were sparsely populated with Indian tribes who either were unaware there was such a thing as Mexico, or hated the Mexicans...and the handful of Spanish-speaking people, mostly in California and New Mexico, did not necessarily consider themselves "Mexican" (rather than "Spanish").

The Mexican-Americans of the present-day Southwest are, with very few exceptions, not descended from people living in the Southwest in 1848.

Will Louis Farrakhan campaign for Bustamante?

From his Million Man March speech:

You've got Hispanics here. I know you call them illegal aliens, but hell, you took Texas from them by flooding Texas with people that got your mind. And now they're coming back across the border to what is Northern Mexico, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. They don't see themselves as illegal aliens. I think they might see you as an illegal alien.

You have to be careful how you talk to people. You have to be careful how you deal with people. The Native American is suffering today. He's suffering almost complete extinction. Now, he learned about bingo. You taught him. He learned about black jack. You taught him. He learned about playing roulette. You taught him. Now, he's making a lot of money. You're upset with him because he's adopted your ways. What makes you like this? See, you're like this because you're not well. You're not well. And in the light of today's global village, you can never harmonize with the Asians. You can't harmonize with the islands of the Pacific.

You can't harmonize with the dark people of the world who out number you 11 to one, if you're going to stand in the mind of white supremacy. White supremacy has to die in order for humanity to live.

I tend to believe them for the following reasons:

The motto "For the race, everything. For those outside the race, nothing." is an ignorant statement about culture not race. The ignorance is not surprising since many in this immigrant culture had little or formal education within their family traditions. In fact, many on this forum think the word Mexican is a racial reference because they lack education. They confuse cultural bigotry with racism.

Anecdotally I live in area teaming with Hispanic cultural pride and attended the same universities that spawned these movements at their inception in the 1960's and never heard a racial slur (directed to Negros or Asians) that came from offical sources within these communities. Neither did I hear any anti Semitic slurs. Even if they are anti Semites today, which I doubt, it's cultural or religious bigotry, not racism.

Yes there was and is virulent cultural bigotry and if asked these Mechaists would call it race but it's their personal ignorance of the meaning of racism that promotes these misguided statements.

As an example I've heard non Hispanic whites refered to as "whitey" because the speaker didn't know that he/she was also "white" by accepted racial classification.

Indeed they are, chicanos, that is what they are. And stinking communists too, I have NO doubt. Bought into the warped ideology of the other "gringos" Karl Marx and co. They are about as likely to take over this country as are the Muslims. That is, they will if we let them.

A vote for Bustamente is most definately a vote in support of these people. Let's hope the California republicans sort out their differences so that Bustamanete and the rest of the Chicanos do not profit from the demise of Davis.

I was able to dig up Mr Esquivel's email address, and wrote him the following message:

---

As you know, many conservatives are criticising your movement for apparent racism. You have said in response that MEChA is simply a way of improving the self-esteem and academic performance of students of La Raza.

I believe that improving the academic performance of La Raza is an excellent goal, and I fully support your organization in its quest.

However, it seems like some of the more inflammatory parts of your various manifestoes are not consistent with your self-described views. What, for example, does the famous slogan "Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada" have to do with achieving your goals? I find it on your literature everywhere.

Your groups have a vague to the extreme socialist manifesto that either advocates the turnover of Aztlan to Mexico, or as its own separate country. You cannot deny this; it's on a whole ton of web sites claiming to speak for your group.

I am frankly disappointed that no reporters appear to have been probing enough to ask you, as a founder of MEChA, what these slogans really mean, and why we should not consider you, well, almost like an enemy agent trying to take our country back to Mexico. This seems odd considering the relative success of our two countries. It also seems odd, in view of the apparent sincerity of your desire to work within the system and improve matters as they stand now.

If the manifesto is not properly refuted, I fear that many of the more extreme elements I know will effectively say that to vote for Bustamante for Governor is to vote for a traitor who refuses to disassociate himself with those rather alarming views.

Finally, I would like to ask you what is wrong with assimilation. If I go to Mexico, I expect to have to learn the Mexican language and Mexican customs in order to fully appreciate your country; why do you not want to treat us the same way? Your manifestoes talk about assimilation as being evil, but don't give any specifics as to why.

I welcome your response, and look forward to hearing your views.

Best
D

----

Let's see if we learn anything from this.

Louis Farrakhan

Farrakhan supporting illegal alien hispanics? Why would a black "leader" speak in favor of the invaders who take jobs away from his supporters? Why haven't any of the black leaders spoken up against illegal immigration? Beats me.
