I read Dean as a guy who thought he would have to run left in order to get the nomination, but sometime around June decided he had the 'Left' sewn up and has been making a move to the center ever sense.
Like Clinton, he seems a determined politician, i.e. willing to posture for any angle necesary to advance himself (more so than say Kerry who looks like he is running for Elk Club president.)
