President George W. Bush shared a light moment with (L-R) Executive Director of the NFL Players Association Gene Upshaw, NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and former Redskins quarterback Sonny Jurgensen in the Oval Office of the White House today. He was presented with the official NFL ball prior to the first game of the season between the Washington Redskins and the New York Jets to be played in the capital on September 4.

First lady Laura Bush addressed the media with Arianna Gouldbourne, 11, after meeting with a group of New York City teachers from the New Teacher Project (TNTP), at the Manhattan campus of Mercy College today in New York. Mrs. Bush is a long-time advocate of TNTP, an organization that works to place quality teachers in America's classrooms. Gouldbourne is the student of a TNTP teacher who started teaching last year.
