It is possible that the weapons themselves were not the only target or even the primary one. Hizbollah has an endless supply of obsolete anti-aircraft guns and Soviet era mortars. Another target is quite a bit more fragile: Hizbollah has a greatly exaggerated sense of its own invincibility, based on Fisk/Pilger misrepresentations of the Israeli withdrawal and their own apparent success in butchering some prisoners and gloating about it. This propaganda image is important to them and their apologists at Guardian, Independent, and Reuters, among others. This delusional self-image should be squarely in the bullseye.

Specifically, the Israelis might be able to target whatever shelter the Hizbollah scum take to when the IDF/AF shows up. Warning time is very low, so these have to be close to the guns, within a few meters in all likelihood. These shelters could be located during a mock attack, with an IDF jet swooping toward the Hizbollah position and breaking off at the last second, while a surveillance drone watches the Hizbollah crews bolt for their holes. The drone video could then be used to determine exact GPS coordinates for each foxhole, bunker, or cave, with appropriate weapons then being employed against each such point.

These animals are quite impressed with gore and bloodshed. Hizbollah has posted billboards right on the border displaying graphic images of mutilated IDF soldiers. These obscenities are immune to attack because they are placed next to UN compounds. Having the Hizbollah killers dig their own out of a shelter with spoons and mops might get the message across in spite of this.

Simply wrong. These incidents have always been related to firing on Israeli aircraft violating Lebanese airspace--I challenge you to show me a case to the contrary. Some of the shells happen to land on Israeli territory--maybe you can make the case that they are malevolently careless about it. Hizballah also has bombardment artillery that would be much better suited for the purposes that you claim of AA, but they don't use it. Because they're not the ones trying to provoke another Israeli invasion.

The US owes Hizballah bigtime for numerous atrocities in the past. They no doubt support the Palis clandestinely in subversion and are enemies of Israel. But by and large they have remained in defensive positions in southern Lebanon since 1982 and have not attacked Israel proper. The need to use by and large to excuse a few hundred shelling attacks over the Israeli border with no Israeli response is beyond equivalency.

By and large this is the radical islamist's modus operandi. When they feel they can kill Jews with impunity or join with other murderers to eliminate Israel completely they will crawl out from under their rocks again. Cease fire in arabic is "reload".
