"The whole damned business just stinks to the high heavens."

An interesting scenario where States vs. Federal Rights could have played out. Also a good case to demonstrate where one or two Honorable men/women could have nade a difference.

Scenario: Late in the day of 9/11.

With all commercial airplane traffic grounded and almost 3,000 Americans and Foreign Nationals dead from a terroist attack in New York, almost immediately attributed by authorities to Saudi Nationals and Osama Bin Ladin, a desk clerk for United Airlines notices Arab Nationals being gathered for an extrodinary flight out of Schmuckly Internationalo Airport at Statesville International Airport.

"What the hell is this!? I just found out my cousin is dead in New York and now the boss says the only flight leaving the entire U.S. is a bunch of overdressed Saudis?"

"I'm making a call to my friend in the governor's office".

Twenty minutes later a dozen State Police enter the airport and are stopped by people identifying themselves as Ferderal Agents.

"We need to find out why these people are the only people leaving the United States. We have information they may be implicated with today's terror attacks."

"You and your State Police associates have no juristiction here. Just move out Andy, and take Barney and the boys with you."

"We'll....I have another 20 troopers 5 minutes away. How 'bout you, me Ope, Aunt Bea and your Arab buddies all just relax and sit down while I call the Governor and have him stop by and sort this whole thing out? As of right now nobody is going anywhere."
