Scott - I am getting dressed to go teach a class of high school seniors this morning. I intend to read your comments to them - before we pray. It's a private school, where we can still do that kind of thing....but only for as long as everyone stands up for freedom.

"I have pissed off liberals..."

Not hard to do, usually applying common sense to an issue will do that.

Keep up the good work.

God Bless you and our other young people that have it figured out. We will be a better country becuase of you.

I was awake and couldn't go back to sleep that morning so I decided to get up and watch just a minute or two of TV before getting my kids up. The first image I saw was Bush praying. I couldn't figure out what he was praying about, was there another nut case in California running around killing his family and co-workers?

Then the picture switched to the plane going into the Trade Center; I knew that we were at war.

Then they media was reporting smoke in DC but couldn't ID where it was coming from. As they discovered that it was from the Pentagon, it comfirmed that we were at war.

Since I was involved with the Family program with my husband's ANG unit I speed dialed the base to check in. It was a few minutes early for them to be in the office so I left a message to have our liason call me.

I then called my son's school so let them know that he would not be at school and that I didn't know when he would be back to school. The office manager laughed when I told her that my son wouldn't be at school that day. She informed me that the school admin. had already figured that they wouldn't be hearing from me for days. She was suprised that I had even bother to call in.

I called my husand next. He had heard from the radio. He thought that Bush was over reacting by grounding all the planes. I told him about the Pentagon and that we were at war. He disagreed. I told him that he was going to be on active duty before the sun when down.

My phone was letting me know that I had a call so I let him go. The base was contacting me. The base requested for me not go anywhere with out a phone. I infomred them that I had cancelled school for my older son and that the only place I was going to was the grocery store for a few minutes with my cell phone.

We had people in our unit that were temp duty at the Pentagon. I wanted the unit to make contact with them to see if they were okay.

The unit called me back an hour later that our members at the Pentagon were okay. I was also infomred that the whole unit was being pulled to activate duty.

I called my husband to inform him that he was going to be pulled to active duty. The call to him directly from the base came a minute or two later, "Report to duty."

On his drive home he was able to listen to the radio and realized the scope of the trauma that was going on in New York and Washington.

Needless to say I spent the rest of the day talking to the base and glued to the TV like the rest of the nation.

Two years ago, I was a senior in high school and I thought it would be a good day. It was the day I became a legal adult. It was also the first time my friends had ever decorated my locker. It wasn't until I was walking in the hall and saw the ladies in the guidance office just staring dumbly at the television that I knew something was wrong.

My 18th birthday was the end of one era...thanks to all the Freepers who helped me realize that there is still hope.

Also, happy birthday to Sparta!

May we never forget...

Excellent post.

You've done a lot already, but have you considering joining the military for a while as a way to further the cause of America? The country could always use a good young man like you.

Not that you would be a bad person if you didn't join, and I wouldn't hold it against you.

Still, just a thought. We have a war we have to win.

There is a freeper here whom I have not seen for quite while now; that often used a phrase ...
"To keep our Freedom requires Vigilence"

OPPS! I'm not sure I have it right, but it is close. It is truth.
