Parapharsing from Metro Source news wire....After landing in Slovakia Pope John Paul was unable to finish a speech. A Slovak priest continued the reading. After resting a few minutes the fatigued pope picked up the speech again. He plans to stay in Slovakia 4 days during his last foriegn visit of the year.

Geez you'd think they'd find out more before putting a breaking news banner. I thought he'd collapsed or something.

Pope Arrives in Slovakia, Has Trouble with Address
Thu September 11, 2003 06:00 AM ET
BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (Reuters) - An extremely tired Pope John Paul arrived in Slovakia Thursday for a four-day visit and was unable to complete his arrival speech on his own.
The 83-year-old pope read only the first few paragraphs of his speech at the Bratislava airport before aides called over a Slovak priest to continue the reading. After several minutes of rest, the pope then picked up the reading again.

The pope has in the past relied on other priests to read part of his speeches in difficult languages but this time the change appeared to be caused by fatigue.

The next time 'Arnold' farts, you can be sure that'll get a banner too.
"...We report (almost anything that comes along with a banner-headline so you'll think it's something important and continue to stay tuned and watch our advertisers)...You decide (to keep watching in case we ever DO put up a banner for something really newsworthy)...".

Ever read 'Peter and the Wolf'?
BTW: I wish they'd just let the poor old guy retire already - he deserves the rest after all he's done.

Isn't there some prophecy saying that the pope after the current pope is to be the last pope?

The next Pope will be the last according to the prophecies of St. Malachy. The line of Pontiffs have almost come to an end. Malachy undertook to list in advance the proper succession of Roman pontiffs from Celestine II (1143) to "the end of the world."He did not name them, but revealed the successors under symbolic titles, set down in Latin. His prophecy contained a motto for 111 Popes starting with Celestine II (1143)."

No offense intended, BUT: the way 'business' has been, they might not be able to AFFORD but one more after Mr. Wojtyla (lawsuits, and all)...
