Law enforcement agents in Central Florida arrested a 26-year-old man Thursday in possession of more than 1,000 stolen blank birth certificates, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said Jose Aponte was arrested on West Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala after he allegedly attempted to sell a blank birth certificate to federal agents. Aponte reportedly was found to be in possession of 1,021 blank certificates of birth stolen from the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Dorado, Puerto Rico, and brought into Florida.

The FBI is charging Aponte with violations of Title 18 U.S.C. Section 1028, Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Identification Documents and Information.

Aponte has been booked into the Marion County Jail by federal marshals and is being held without bond.

The arrest was part of a joint investigation by the FBI Jacksonville Division, the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agents and the Ocala Police Department.

Yep. And people will easily accept the mark.
Can't be stolen, permanant ID, a charge card, a voter card....etc.
Trackable by the government, all purchases like guns and ammo on record......

Oh no. Next year, I predict that Puerto Rico's Little League team is going to take the title with ease.

Funny you should say that. When I traded in my VA drivers license for an Iowa one, I was told that a birth certificate could not be used as a second means of idenity verification. Only if it was a US one, that is. If I offered one from Venezula or Quatar, it would have been gladly accepted.
