[history]
AP has moved a story saying Bustamante, McClintock, Camejo and Hufffington are drafting a letter in which they will threaten to boycot next week's debate unless the sponsors drop 12 questions submitted by the public and already released and use a traditional format instead. It's not clear from the story whether the letter will really come together. There seems to be some question whether all the candidates are really willing to threaten to drop out. Stan Statham, president of the California Broadcasters Assn, says the format will not change.

So let's all be clear about the truth:
1. It is unknown whether this letter really exists or who signed off on it...
2. The debate is actually less scripted than most debates because it allows interplay between the candidates whereas most debates these days only allow questions from the "journalists"

There was certainly a lot of interplay in the LA Press Club debate, too bad arnie wasn't there if this last debate falls thru, for whatever potential reasons.
Arnie's soundbite re: the debate next week, "This is the Super Bowl of All the debates." :-\
He got a bye from all the others, I reckun. ;-)
I look forward to a sack of river rocks being in one of the chairs in place of Cruz. :-)

"I look forward to a sack of river rocks being in one of the chairs in place of Cruz." You'd get much better leadership from a sack of river rocks than from Bustamante.

I heard Tom McClintock's spokesman on
the Mark Williams Show-Night Talk Live" state that they teamed up with Huffington & Bustamonte (and I believe Camejo) to state that they do not plan to attend the debate at CSU Sacramento on 9/24. They will extend an invitation to him to debate where the questions are not pre-screened, and therefore not scripted.

The unstated point of the report,
if accurate, evidently being:
- McTicktock, according to this report, is a traitor
- McTickTock, according to this report, doesn't keep his own word
- McTicktock, according to this report, is a dim bulb
Great true-blue Republican conservative standard-bearer the scorched-earthers are about to torch California for, eh wot?

Wow, pre-screening of questions. That is like, uhh, a debate I've never heard of, since it's durn hard to schedule a debate when no one knows what the topic is.
Teamed up with Bustamante and Huffington? This is the gallant ultra-conservative we're supposed to follow blindly because he supposedly will bring conservative issues to the fore? Yeah, right. It would have been absolutely wonderful to have seen somewhere in Tom's TV commercial something about 'Yes on the Recall' or something anti-Davis.
Our enemies are the Democrats and the idiotic things they've done to our state, and are doing to our state. Not fellow Republicans. RINO watchers, what do you call someone who joins with Democrats to trash a Republican?

Yep. The reputed true-blue conservative Republican.
What part of "conservative" is it to break your word, pout and throw a tantrum unless you can get your own way?
What part of "Republican" is it to team up with the Demo frontrunner to try to trash the Republican frontrunner?
For the still-thinking, those are problems.
For McClintock's Carvilles here, no problemo.
