I'm fine, thanks!

Here in Edgecombe County, NC [near Rocky Mount], we lost power for about 8 hrs.
Lots of limbs and leaves are down, but it's nothing that can't wait till tomorrow.

About the most exciting thing that happened was watching two power lines arcing as the wind blew them too close together.
Then I took a nap for about two hours; afterward, my dad and I cooked chicken on the grill and drank beer.

Compared to other hurricanes I've been through, this was a non-event.
It was a good excuse for a little party, though. ;)

Today I am back at work.

Long time lurker, but since I live 20 miles south of Downtown Baltimore, in beautiful Anne Arundel county. I thought I would reply. The storm has caused most of Maryland to loose power. My county is 90% dark, with a projection of weeks to fully recover. The winds were bad, and took out lots of trees. This took out power lines, damaged houses etc.

Right now the Inner harbor area of Baltimore city is flooded for blocks from the harbors edge, we are talking 3 blocks from normal waters edge, it is knee deep. With basements of the local office buildings flooding. Washington is hit harder with flooding.

Both cities have no public transportation systems functional. Only 2 traffic deaths to report so far, so God was with us. Property can be replaced, rebuilt, but not loved ones.

Hope this came out right, forgive the typo’s, been up all night checking my flooded basement

Hi!!!!!!!!!!

We're fine.

The one thing that I did not have a backup/contingency plan for is the one thing that happened.

My phones went out....................no phone no puter

So I hunkered down to channel surf the news programs and 15 minutes later the cable went out
I have been news deprived since 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

At 10 this morning both my phones and cable came back on.

Soon as I got the puter fired up I came straight here!!!!!!!!

Judging from my "my comments page" and my FReepmail inbox - I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Thanks for your concern. We're fine at my place. But we're still without electricity. I'm trying to catch up on what is happening in the outside world.
